I'm a millionaire living in Washington. I'm happy to pay more in taxes — it helps everybody. [AWFUL barf alert]

(snip) I've been at both ends of the spectrum, financially.

Becoming a millionaire is definitely not as simple as pulling yourself up and just doing the hard work. There's so much else that factors in — including a lot of luck. I got lucky.

It makes me mad when people say, "Well, I did it, so you can."(snip)

People should be able to get wealthy — there's nothing wrong with that. The thing is, just pay your fair share of taxes. That's the bottom line.(snip)

It's just a healthier way of structuring society than holding people down and taxing people into poverty, while people at the very high end are not contributing their share.(snip)

The new legislation in Washington is a 9.9% tax on income — not under stocks or anything — over $1 million a year starting in 2028, and then the first payments would be in 2029.

It's only less than 1% of people in Washington state who would be subject to this.

I recognize that as you gain more wealth, you keep looking around the corner saying, "Oh, if I had more, I could do this. I don't want to lose any of my money because I'm already looking at this new thing."

I believe it is a syndrome of excessive wealth disorder. (snip)

I just believe that there is excessive wealth, and it's getting worse — it's only going to get worse in very quick fashion.

Our inequality is so drastic. (snip)

We can see the impact of the excessive wealth inequality that's happening in our society, and it's very dangerous for all of us.(snip)

I'm just passionate about helping the people who want to do well.

It's just the right thing to do.

What the bill would do would be to provide people perhaps with some tax holidays and help small businesses. The governor is very clear: We need to put money back into people's pockets.

More proof that you don't need to be smart to be rich. This dingbat doesn't seem to grasp that those tax dollars are going to the politicians, who will dole it out here and there, while being sure some of it finds its way into their own pockets. And in the end, the poor will still be poor, if not poorer than they are now, and the rich (that is, the politician's friends and family) will get much, much richer.

If she wants to put money back into people's pockets, STOP THE GOVERNMENT from confiscating it from them in the first place.

Silly bitch. There’s a spot on your 1040 where you can donate whatever you want to the treasury. How about it!

I left off the fact that ALL the states that continue to loose population are the liberal heavily taxed states.

CA, NY, IL, MA, WA are the biggest losers of population.

The gainers are FL, TX, NC, SC, AZ, ID

The only northeast states gaining people are CT, NH, ME.
CT is gaining because people are leaving NY but still work in NYC.

These Demographic shifts are WHY the Dems brought in so many illegals during Biden. They are already losing Congress critters. The next census will lose additional Congress critters and Electoral College votes.

“”””“Victoria Hattersley, a 70-year-old author and retired millionaire from Mount Vernon, Washington, is married to her last and most wonderful husband, who was the head of the biostatistics group at the statistical and data analysis center involved in AIDS research at the Harvard School of Public Health. She met him while working on the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, where she was on the administrative side. Both she and her husband transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry, where they built their wealth through careers and stock options.”””””

Thanks for posting her grifter bio.

I note that she and hubby are now Public Relations grifters for Big Pharma.

Warren Buffet likes to claim that his secretary pays more in income taxes than he does, and how this is unfair, blah, blah, blah. Since our system is Income based, Warren can just take more capital gains, and hence pay more taxes. He got his, he doesn’t want you to get yours....

Excessive wealth disorder? The treatment is to give your money to your shrink? In the whole panoply of the fake mental health disorders this may be the most self serving of all for the shrinks. A better word for them is charlatans.

The first federal income tax under the new 16th amendment appeared in the Revenue Act of 1913. Unrecognizably low by today’s standards, the rates started at just 1% for those earning between $3,000-$20,000, or about $95,000-$640,000 in 2024 dollars. Over $20,000 of income, there were additional increments where a larger tax rate would be incurred, with a maximum combined rate of 7%. This rate only applied to income over $500,000, or $16 million in 2024 dollars.

How did that turn out?

She is stupendously, colossally stupid about avaricious, utterly insatiable government.

She is totally ignorant about all the corruption exposed about people raiding our treasury of tens or hundreds of billions of dollars.

She probably could pay to send at least one kid to a private school.

She could write a big check to a doctor or dentist to pay for the care of some lower income people.

I think some organizations buy up medical debt.

Exactly. There is no limit in liberal America of how much taxes you can pay. She can shoot her whole wad at the knuckledragging malingerers if she wants to. She really needs to do that. Idiots with a lot of money get mugged a lot.

“It’s only less than 1% of people in Washington state who would be subject to this.”

Does she seriously think that it will stay at 1%? That was how the Federal Income Tax was sold in 1913—only the rich will pay it.

Her husband died in 2020 when they lived in Massachusetts. Apparently, she moved to their vacation home in Washington since then.

I wonder what else she isn’t doing. She’s not paying more in taxes. She wants you to pay more in taxes.
