Divisive ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Canceled After Two Seasons

The Paramount+ 'Star Trek' show will end after its already filmed second season.

So much for Paramount+‘s Gen Z Star Trek show.

The streamer has decided to end Star Trek: Starfleet Academy after season two.

Starfleet Academy had recently finished airing its debut season. Paramount+ had (rather optimistically, as it turned out) already ordered a second season, which recently wrapped production.

Starfleet Academy has been a polarizing entry in the Trek canon. Many critics have celebrated the show for focusing on a younger generation and its coming-of-age themes. On social media, the show has been a frequent target of mockery from those who claim the show is too “woke.”

On Rotten Tomatoes, the show had an 87 percent positive critics score, but a dismal 51 percent audience score.

The show also never managed to chart among Nielsen’s weekly top 10 streaming lists for viewership.

The news comes at a time when there are no longer any Star Trek TV shows in production, though there are two previously filmed seasons of Strange New Worlds that have yet to air.

Weird fun.

"Whoever thought that this was a good idea should be fired."

They're more likely to be promoted, sadly.

As a Trekkie, my wife and I could have done a better job in doing a Star Trek franchise..

It would be a bunch of MAGA type families who is going to an unhabitable planet and they created a nice world for those people...on another planet a bunch of WOKE people landed and it failed...

“Any business knows to cut its losses, but to film and not even show it shows there’s something else going on. Surely they could make some money back by going online.
There’s something else going on with this.”

I have a theory about the making entertainment the content of which is no more than the medium for espousing political or social extremism.

Keeping in mind that the left plays the long game far better than the right, we only need to take notice of how future generations will absorb history. Even today most young folks have never cracked open a history book. They prefer to get their ‘facts’ from social media or other more compact vehicles. Reading books is hard.

The left knows this and so they invest in rewriting history and placing the new narrative in newer formats that will actually be accessed by future generations ie: social media and movies. These fabrications are funded by the usual suspects who guarantee that the actors and other production folks are compensated for their efforts.

The production usually bombs financially and is taken out of mainstream availability for a short while, but it is now available for posterity. Future consumers of the product will short-sightedly assume that the production is historically accurate. These consumers have never read a history book so there is basis of comparison to dispute.

My favorite example of this is the 2015 Robert Redford movie ‘Truth’. This movie is the left’s version of the GWBush III’s presidential campaign and his involvement with the Texas Air National Guard. The left desperately wanted to portray Bush as a draft dodger. It is accurate only in the fact that the characters used the names of the actual folks
involved. While the plot line loosely followed reality, most of the details were complete fabrications and distortions of the truth.

So while the movie was a loser at the box office, it is now available to future generations who will assume it is historically accurate. Remember, no history books will be consulted for verification.

One game the left hates is the very unwoke Kingdom Come:Deliverance series, where you play a blacksmith’s son in 15th century Bohemia seeking revenge for your family killed by Cuman invaders. It’s got features like the “Alpha Male” bonus if you visit the baths and get a girl, lol. Lots of criticism from reviewers when the first game came out, but fans loved it and it made tons of money.

Looks like it’s the worst of the Star Trek franchise. I haven’t watched any of the episodes but did get a chuckle from the critical summary videos. It would have probably done fine if they just named it Gay Trek or Star Queers.

And the only reason there’s a second season is because it was filmed before the first season aired.

The show was in too much of a hurry. People whining about the wokeness just don’t understand Star Trek. But they just burned through story and character development at an insane rate. Episode 9 was their 300th day at the Academy! then that ep ends in what could be a great plot for a the whole next season... Nope wrap that up in episode 10! Plots and characters are like wine, they need to breath. They needed to slow it all down, do some classic Trek episodic stuff, where nothing permanent happens, just fun stuff at the Academy. A Federation that needs to rebuild after centuries isolated thanks to {tech babble} is a really interesting situation to explore, and frustrating to see “solved” instantly. Oh well, thus is life.
