It was One Battle After Another’s night. Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-thriller took home six Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Directing and Best Picture.
The film also won awards for Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as the first-ever Oscar for Best Casting. Upon accepting his award, Anderson — who had previously been nominated for an Oscar around a dozen times — joked, “You make a guy work hard for one of these, I really appreciate it.”
Sinners also had a big night, bringing home four Oscars, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan’s role as twins Smoke and Stack. In his acceptance speech, Jordan thanked the Black actors “who came before me.” Sinners cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first-ever female winner for Best Cinematography.
Frankenstein took home three Oscar statuettes, while KPop Demon Hunters nabbed two, including an Oscar for Best Original Song. Two films — Two People Exchanging Saliva and The Singers — tied for Best Live Action Short Film.
A portion of the show was dedicated to the many actors, writers and filmmakers who died in 2025. Billy Crystal led a moving tribute to Rob Reiner, the longtime actor and director who was stabbed to death with his wife, Michelle Reiner, in December

Snide remarks are welcome?
I plan to watch Harper tonight based on cast of Newman, Becall and others. If that fails go back to watching the Miami Vice serial.
The titles of these movies strongly indicate that NONE of them are worth watching—let alone going to a theater and paying for them.
We did get to see “Oppenheimer” online and for free! And we’ve seen quite a number of older, high-quality Oscar-winning films online and for free as well.
I’d rather see excellent 1980s and 1990’s films online for free than even be paid to see the current crop of shoddy “Oscar-winners”!
Good call, you missed nothing.
100% true. It's a CRAP movie with very little redeeming value.
What’s funny was.... the Oscar Show was far more entertaining than ANY of the movies they were touting. It was a sad, very sad year for movies.

Yup:
If this doesn’t qualify for the lefty ‘act of self-gratification’ of the week, I don’t know what does...
After that Spanish freak Bardem said “No to war,” and ‘Free Palestine” while presenting an award... O’Brian said... ‘I have something important to say...’ he paused and then said ‘The next awards category, etc., etc.’
Hollywood is full of pompous *ssholes.
BTW - The best movie... ‘Hamnet’. A movie about Shakespeare directed by an Asian woman... It truly was the best picture I’ve seen this year with the best writing, best directing and best acting... It’s the imagined grief of William Shakespeare and his wife over the loss of the son named Hamnet.
Hamnet (film)
Hamnet is a 2025 historical drama film directed by Chloé Zhao, who co-wrote the screenplay with Maggie O’Farrell, based on the 2020 novel by O’Farrell.
I was pissed Kate Hudson lost. She was great in Song Song Blues which is the only movie I saw. It was a great film. Sadly conservatives didn’t go see it like they don’t vote but every four years. So frustrating!
I actually paid to see this piece of crap of a movie in a theater. Kept wondering when it was going to get better. If I run into Leo or Sean, going to ask for our $$ back.

“The Shepherd’s Supper”
Overlooking a little hokey AI; two hours every well spent—and a tremendous call to repentance.
The movies were terrible according to most who saw them.
Not popular at all with the public.
Meanwhile the academy did not remember Brigitte Bardot as she was not politically correct as she had mentioned in years past how bad the muslims were.
Leo DiCrapio brought his half his age girlfriend to the Oscars while wearing his new mustache and people noticed he had used one of the weight loss drugs. According to an article at Yahoo the “C” list celebs were showing up at the after parties. Not enough “A” list ones anymore.
