It was One Battle After Another’s night. Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-thriller took home six Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Directing and Best Picture.

The film also won awards for Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as the first-ever Oscar for Best Casting. Upon accepting his award, Anderson — who had previously been nominated for an Oscar around a dozen times — joked, “You make a guy work hard for one of these, I really appreciate it.”

Sinners also had a big night, bringing home four Oscars, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan’s role as twins Smoke and Stack. In his acceptance speech, Jordan thanked the Black actors “who came before me.” Sinners cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first-ever female winner for Best Cinematography.

Frankenstein took home three Oscar statuettes, while KPop Demon Hunters nabbed two, including an Oscar for Best Original Song. Two films — Two People Exchanging Saliva and The Singers — tied for Best Live Action Short Film.

A portion of the show was dedicated to the many actors, writers and filmmakers who died in 2025. Billy Crystal led a moving tribute to Rob Reiner, the longtime actor and director who was stabbed to death with his wife, Michelle Reiner, in December

‘One Battle After Another’ named Best Picture’

Only because it’s anti immigration and customs enforcement propaganda

With the new nomination requirements, these Oscars should come with an asterisk.

Second time host, Conan O’ Brian actually kept the show entertaining and non-political.

I just completely tune out. I didn't want One Battle After Another to win anything although I knew it would. I saw Sinners and thought it was OK. Not great but OK. Some people read a lot of anti-white messaging into it. I didn't really see that - sure, there was some but that was the South back then, and 100% caused by the Democrats. At one point I wanted Ethan Hawke to win best actor in an upset but he's gone on as many vocal anti-Trump / anti-conservative screeds as the rest of them. So I settled for hoping that Timothee Chalamet won best actor in an upset. Especially after he pissed everyone off by saying that no one cared about opera and ballet.

“Melania” should’ve won best documentary. Imagine that. They would’ve burned the place to the ground

All of them were ugly with porn judging from the pre shows. I watched on my Blue Moon a nice sad biopic of one of the greats

It’s a decent movie it’s no porn so it was never going to win but Ethan hawk was the best actor

I tuned in to see what evil people are following. Blech. And five hours. How narcissistic is that?

There was talent in Sinners but I didn’t finish the movie, I got through the poorly written and poorly made One Battle after Another just to watch how bad it could get (it sucked), DiCaprio was fun enough, although not well developed, Frankenstein I lost interest in and turned off, Weapons was an actual pro-witchcraft movie, mediocre to lousy movies.

One Battle after Another was a gift to Antifa while Weapons was a gift to the growing embracing of witchcraft.

Even though it was Leonardo decaprio, the clips looked interesting and I like Benicio del Toro even though he’s an idiot lib as well, so I almost decided to actually go to the theater......something I haven’t done many years.....glad I didn’t.
