A Bridgerton star has reignited the controversy over whether George III's wife Queen Charlotte, who is depicted in the Regency-era drama, was black in real life.
Adjoa Andoh said of the royal, played by fellow black actress Golda Rosheuvel: 'Queen Charlotte wasn't fictionalised as a woman of colour, she was a woman of colour. You just have to do your historical research.'
The actress – who in 2023 said the Buckingham Palace line-up after King Charles' coronation was 'terribly white' – said the Netflix series gave viewers 'a more realistic version of history'.

This is a weird one. Charlotte was from northern Germany, and very unlikely to have been black. But her portraits do suggest a white woman with unusually rounded, ambiguous features. She reminds me of the South African guy that Elaine dated in Seinfeld, whom she thought was “black,” but was really a Dutch Afrikaner.
Useful example in case people don’t believe the intent of black washing is to replace white people historically.
Another recent one is a Muslim group in Texas was demanding students be taught the defenders of the Alamo were Muslim.
someone tell Meaghan Markle she was one upped by Charlotte.
Charlotte of Mecklenburg was of course, German. Germans are.........wait for it.........White.
I write this to you from the city of Charlotte in Mecklenburg county, North Carolina. The Queen’s city is not named after a Black woman. Deal with it.
PS. Let me add, No, Cleopatra was not Black either.
PPS. Neither was Beethoven.
The DESPERATION to claim various Europeans as Black is both hilarious and pathetic. This isn’t even cultural appropriation, this is people appropriation.
Yes, it absolutely is pathetic.
And totally absurd, too.
The Soviet Union used to claim all sorts of accomplishments — the airplane was invented in Moscow by the Wrightsky Brothers.
Blacks claim all sorts of accomplishments. They have so few of their own, they need to “borrow” from the people who actually did stuff.
“ Germans are.........wait for it.........White.”
But ChatGPT makes all the Nazi soldiers black!
Considering the stunt casting for the series, none of this should come as a surprise.
Wonder if interest in the series is declining and Netflux is trying to goose ratings.
Again.
It’s funny/stupid that some people tried to push the Cleopatra was black BS. She wasn’t even Egyptian. She was Greek. And I don’t mean she belonged to a sorority.
If you can say “woman of color”, then colored is just fine. That is where it was when I got here 68 years ago. We have gone full circle now. I wish people would make up their minds.
Words fail me. All I can say is we live in a Hieronymus Bosch painting.
I thought she was from Portugal and was black.
The miniseries Ann Bolynne (sp?) which was a purportedly accurate historical drama mad Anne black.
It’s absurd.
It’s amazing how fanatical the identity politics left has become in pursuing the one drop rule.
But only in one direction.
When the subject comes up conversationally, I always suggest reversing the principle. Anyone with one drop of white blood is white. Our racial divide would be closed instantly.
Of course, one might think that other races would be included in the discussion, but this rarely happens. The left is mainly interested in the black-white thing.

Doesn't look Negro to me, nor do her other existig portraits.

Some people assume anyone with any connection to Africa as Black. Mediterranean Africa is different than sub Saharan Africa. Mediterranean Africa is tied to other lands that border the Mediterranean Sea, which are Caucasian.
