WASHINGTON — President Trump took a victory lap Thursday after a federal judge allowed his administration to carry on with construction of his prized $400 million White House ballroom.
US District Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee, found that construction on the epic project was not a violation of a federal law, as alleged by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
“Great news for America, and our wonderful White House! The Judge on the case of what will be the most beautiful Ballroom anywhere in the World, has just thrown out, and completely erased, the effort to stop its construction,” Trump later cheered on Truth Social.
Leon, however, suggested that the National Trust could rework its lawsuit and try again under a different legal framework.
“The Ballroom construction, which is anticipated to also handle future Inaugurations and large State Visits, is ahead of schedule, and under budget. It will stand long into the future as a symbol to the Greatness of America!” Trump continued.
Trump’s planned 90,000 square foot ballroom is poised to eclipse the size of the White House and is being built over where the East Wing once stood.
The ritzy venue is intended to be “impenetrable” with “drone-proof ceilings” and bullet-proof glass, according to Trump. Beneath it, the administration is speculated to be renovating the White House nuclear bunker.
Late last year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which Congress has entrusted with preserving historic buildings, sued to stop construction of the ballroom on the grounds that Trump didn’t comply with federal guidelines.

“””” President Trump took a victory lap Thursday after a federal judge allowed his administration to carry on with construction of his prized $400 million White House ballroom. “””
That’s mighty white of the judge to allow Trump to spend 400 million dollars of DONATED MONEY for a building.
I don’t always agree with this preservation stuff...lotsa cr** gets credentials cuz sometimes it’s who you know.
Hope it’s completed before the end of his term so Trump can do the first grand entrance.
I hope it is finished in time to get a lot of use before the next Democrat President has it torn down.
Trump will use $400M in private donations to build it. A Democrat will use $1B in taxpayer funds to tear it down.
The ‘Rats would put white spray paint on the gold - Communists!
So, can master builder Trump get this pretty much done before the attorneys for the National Trust for Historic Preservation have run up enough lawyers fees that they are good with filing a new suit. It will require a lot of legal research. Lots, and the fees for the kind of top men you need at top firm run pretty high. And we know they are top men, all.
I’ve been to Trump Tower in NYC. Went many years ago when it was almost new. The first several floors are filled with exclusive , expensive shops.
I’ve been all over the world and have seen a lot of beautiful buildings. Trump Tower ranks up there with the best. “Get out of his way” is best thing they can do.
“Irreparable harm” needs to be shown before a temporary restraining order will issue. I think if they can make enough progress fast enough, they can essentially neuter that argument
For now? WTF?
Why would a judge even take the case? What jurisdiction does the judge have.
We have checks and balances. The Judicial Branch is out control. Congress? Hello? Congress?
All I can think of is maybe complexities. Permits, inspections, lawyers getting a cut.
I believe that. They also put a treasure map invisibly on the back of the Declaration of Independence.
**A Democrat will use $1B in taxpayer funds to tear it down.**
That would be their right but would it happen? We’ll find out.
This isn't going anywhere.
It will become a case of dueling private organizations. On February 19, an Arts commission approves Trump's White House ballroom, clearing key hurdle.
Washington — A commission that advises the federal government on architecture and the arts voted Thursday to approve President Trump's overhaul of the White House East Wing, clearing a key hurdle before above-ground construction can begin on a new ballroom.
Six members of the Commission of Fine Arts voted to give final approval of the project after discussing the plans at a virtual meeting. One member, the original architect of the ballroom, recused himself. All of the members were appointed by the president after he fired the previous members in October.
Architect Shalom Baranes presented renderings and technical drawings to the commission, showing the proposed East Wing exterior from various perspectives. The images showed one notable change to an earlier design: a pediment will no longer adorn the south face of the ballroom...
The Commission of Fine Arts was established in 1910 to "advise the federal government on matters pertaining to the arts and national symbols, and to guide the architectural development of Washington, D.C." according to its website.
The White House is still awaiting approval from another panel, the National Capital Planning Commission, which could vote as soon as March 5. The administration has said vertical construction could begin as soon as April.

I wish they had a gaming joint where you could pay a quarter and get a chance at booting a judge in the azz.
I can see the DemonKKKrats putting up a bill that puts up an “off limits” sign after the ballroom is completed. Accompanying this will a mass protest against the ballroom’s use. The evil DemonKKKrats won’t stop. You will see them outlawing sunlight on President Trump and forbidding him from being seen with his wife, Melania.
What the hell does a judge have to do with White House renovations?
