The DNC establishment selected newly elected Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger as the face of their party to make their official response to President Trump's State of the Union speech.
And all anyone could conclude from it was 'what were they thinking?' [Rebuttal video at link]
With her knobby nose and missing lips, she had the unfortunate appearance of a gnome, and not a cute one. She can't help that, but Breitbart notes that her gestures were off, too, which she could have practiced a little.

The big problem, though, was her content -- a load of hypocrisy, lies and distortions. She laid out an amazingly wretched speech, delivered before a small funereal audience which didn't look too happy to be there, spouting the usual tropes about Epstein, Trump enriching himself, Trump loving dictators, and other constantly repeated claptrap that is too boring to comment on.
She did lay out the standard Zohran Mamdani-inspired talking point about 'affordability' early on, though, the lack of which is inflation, which is a byproduct of excessive government spending, while oddly condemning the very popular DOGE project which identifies government waste in spending, in the same speech.
As for herself the alternative, she didn't say how she was making anything affordable; all she let out was that she was 'working hard,' offering zero details.

I agree. Why the Democrats complain about affordability while raising taxes is insanity. When we were in mountain of North Carolina we took a trail ride. The guides were brothers who lived on a family farm that the family had owned for several generations. Rising land prices and the ever rising taxes were doing them in.
I tried to watch the response as I usually do. I just couldn’t take the vicious untrue talking points this time. I had to turn it off before I even got half way through. That Spanberger’s a real lying piece of crap but she sounds like all the rest of the know-nothing democrat liars.
.....as a former proud-to-be Virginian, I think the true Eastern Virginia is probably quite conservative...you probably mean the Tidewater Virginia area, which is larded with federal jobs, federal facilities, and the like...that area is overwhelmingly liberal, and that area plus the Richmond and Nortern Virgiia areas, and probably the Charlottesville area, went for this fraud big time....

I’d think the Valley and Southside are pretty conservative too. The suburbs around Richmond used to be very GOP - but not so much anymore.
