The DNC establishment selected newly elected Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger as the face of their party to make their official response to President Trump's State of the Union speech.
And all anyone could conclude from it was 'what were they thinking?' [Rebuttal video at link]
With her knobby nose and missing lips, she had the unfortunate appearance of a gnome, and not a cute one. She can't help that, but Breitbart notes that her gestures were off, too, which she could have practiced a little.

The big problem, though, was her content -- a load of hypocrisy, lies and distortions. She laid out an amazingly wretched speech, delivered before a small funereal audience which didn't look too happy to be there, spouting the usual tropes about Epstein, Trump enriching himself, Trump loving dictators, and other constantly repeated claptrap that is too boring to comment on.
She did lay out the standard Zohran Mamdani-inspired talking point about 'affordability' early on, though, the lack of which is inflation, which is a byproduct of excessive government spending, while oddly condemning the very popular DOGE project which identifies government waste in spending, in the same speech.
As for herself the alternative, she didn't say how she was making anything affordable; all she let out was that she was 'working hard,' offering zero details.

Each elected official that is against Voter ID needs to provide specific examples of American citizens who are unable to get IDs - which are needed for just about anything in this country, including shoveling snow in New York City.

Spanberger didn’t win by stirring up support (the Nova Dems were already motivated to punish Trump), but by using her blandness to rope-a-dope Republicans into not voting. The worthless Republican Party neither defined her as a radical wolf in sheeps’ clothing nor did they present an exciting vision of their own agenda. “Sort of Youngkin II” might look great now, but it’s not much of a motivator.
Republicans were not energized by Sears, who had an unclear message and didn’t really campaign in the rural areas where R votes are found. Racism likely cost her about 5%. The Virginia Republican Party establishment has a NoVa orientation, little connection to the Republican voter base, no turnout mechanism for rural areas, and does diddly to promote its candidates. Failure to have Trump campaign for Sears was a big mistake. Lazy party leads to lazy (non)voters.
Abby is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Seems very easily controlled.
Since RINOs use election fraud to win primaries in conservative districts, they will fight it hard - while maintaining plausible deniability by feigning indifference (Thune, et al).
