Reefer Madness

There is a growing body of evidence that marijuana causes a number of health problems, but this study is especially sobering, as it encompassed 463,396 adolescents:

Adolescents who use cannabis could face a significantly higher risk of developing serious psychiatric disorders by young adulthood, according to a large study published in JAMA Health Forum. The longitudinal study followed 463,396 adolescents ages 13 to 17 through age 26 and found that past-year cannabis use during adolescence was associated with a significantly higher risk of incident psychotic (doubled), bipolar (doubled), depressive and anxiety disorders.

Good Lord.

Cannabis use preceded psychiatric diagnoses by an average of 1.7 to 2.3 years. The study’s longitudinal design strengthens evidence that adolescent cannabis exposure is a potential risk factor for developing mental illness.

We also know that marijuana is a gateway drug, as a not-insignificant portion of THC users graduate to other drugs including opioids, often with fatal results.

It occurs to me that the oft-caricatured conservatives of the 1960s, who were mocked then and are largely forgotten now, were right about everything.

This ain't your father's weed, or even the weed that you smoked as a teenager. Its "fortified" and that is causing a lot of problems.

I think today’s leftist headlines and ANTIFA tranny cult prove this out.

This is a big DUH! to me. As a former heavy pot user I was dead set against legalization here in Ca. I know from experience it is very addicting and screws with your quality of health and life.

It’s so cute when Judges like Mr HINDERAKER forget that Prohibition failed.

Decriminalization isn’t about getting stoned. It’s about getting government to obey the Constitution, and defanging Leviathan.

If someone can explain where the Founders gave the govt the power to ban ingestion of chemicals in the Constitution, go for it.

And the Commerce Clause is the wrong answer, unless you’re a leftist.

“Adolescents who use cannabis could face a significantly higher risk of developing serious psychiatric disorders by young adulthood, according to a large study published in JAMA Health Forum. “

Only fools dispute the factual data.

That’s why kids with weak minds should not smoke pot. It’s also why anyone with a weak mind should not smoke pot.

There are several reasons why everyone else should not smoke pot, but they are not essential.

Millions of adults smoke pot with no discernible harm.

It’s right there in the Preamble. If you think brain-dead, unproductive, accident-prone zombies “promote the general welfare,” please tell me how.

They didn’t, but control freaks are always wanting to solve non problems with more government controls & intervention.

They listen and hear things they don’t like, then want to “do something about it.”

And which State will be the first to change it’s cannabis laws?

(It’s a rhetorical question...)

Promote the general Welfare is interpreted broadly to allow the federal government (and, by extension, states under their police powers) to enact laws and regulations that protect public resources, ensure sustainable use of natural assets like fisheries, prevent depletion that could harm economic stability or food supply, and benefit society as a whole. This clause supports conservation efforts, resource management, and regulations that balance current use with long-term public benefit—core rationales for fishing rules like quotas, seasons, size limits, and habitat protections. <— Sorry, AI, but it makes sense in general.

The place of alcohol in the 1000s of years of development, culture, and advancement of Western civilization and America has nothing to do with the recent introduction of cannabis as an intoxicant from the dark corners of the backwards world.

It would have been very rare for a kid to overdose on drugs back in the 70’s. Now it is extremely common.

My nephew started smoking pot at age 14. Mentally, he never progressed past that age and died when he was 50yo from a heart attack.

The same place where the Founders gave the govt the power to ban rape, murder, bank robbery, drunk driving, etc. You get the picture?

In the 60s/early 70s overdose deaths, murder, suicide, were all big parts of the scene.
