New York, which requires no ID to vote, tells residents they need two forms of ID (and Social Security card) to become snow shovelers

If you haven't heard, New York City has been struggling this winter to clear its streets of snow.

Communist Mayor Zohran Mamdani has been blamed for mishandling the city's response.

To "fix" the problem, Mamdani is asking the residents of what used to be a First-World city to shovel the streets themselves.

But in order to do that, he is requiring them to fill out paperwork, including two forms of identification.

Can’t fix an election in your parties favor if you have to have photo ID.

They obviously need a ss card and other form of acceptable ID to employ anyone. Not surprising they need photos to give them a photo ID as well. Having them give them the copies just saves the department from having to make copies to return the IDs on the spot.

Of course, they should also be required to give proof of citizenship to vote.

For many years, I was an involuntary member of a “progressive” union. They of course backed the no-ID voting stance of the Democrat Party.

But to vote in a union election, I had to show ID AND be vouched for by someone working the door. Quite the hypocrisy, eh?

And the union bosses used all sorts tricks to make sure only their favored candidates won. The whole process was very undemocratic.

I was a Teamster for a time back in the 90s.

The local was being controlled by UPS.

I’ve never seen anything so one-sided.

When the president got wind that where I worked actually had more numbers than UPS and our business agent could take over the local from him the president tranferred our business agent down state.

That was when I decided to get out.

Unions had a place in this country at one time.....IMO, that time is long gone.

Won’t this cretin get sideways with some unionized street department by asking for scabs, er, volunteers?

I hope NYC gets absolutely buried in snow. It will be satisfying on so many levels.

I don’t believe NYC is exempt from I-9 requirements, nor should it be.

“Employees must provide documentation to their employers to show their identity and authorization to work.”

I would suspect this is not about snow but finding the useful tools for a non state militia.

But they aren’t being “employed”, they are volunteering.....to shovel snow! It’s really incredibly stupid.
