Mike Huckabee's analogies regarding land rights and defense, specifically his suggestion that if a people like the Irish can defend their land, they can keep it—have been viewed as a significant rhetorical own goal that complicates the very pro-Israel stance he intended to defend.
Critics and media analysts have highlighted several major ramifications of this logic and analysts have noted the internal contradiction in Huckabee's argument. By shifting the justification from a divine mandate (the Promised Land) to a right of conquest/defense media commentators pointed out that the Irish analogy is particularly fraught. If land ownership is determined solely by the ability to defend it through force, it removes the moral high ground of "legitimate ownership" that Huckabee simultaneously tried to claim when he said Israel only wants land they "own legitimately".
Mainstream reporting from The Times of Israel and other diplomatic-focused outlets characterized his comments as a move toward a "might makes right" foreign policy. This is seen as a radical departure for a U.S. Ambassador, as it ignores international law and decades of U.S.-led peace negotiations based on "land for peace" frameworks. Realizing the potential fallout, Huckabee later characterized his "take it all" and related defense comments as "somewhat hyperbolic". However, media coverage suggests the damage was already done, with the "Irish defense" analogy remaining a primary point of criticism for its lack of diplomatic foresight. Mainstream media analysts and critics noted that Mike Huckabee’s arguments regarding religious and cultural ties to land created a "rhetorical trap" with significant implications for U.S. domestic policy.
The reaction to his line of reasoning—that religious identity, language, and cultural alignment grant a "legitimate" right to a homeland—focused on several key areas led to critics pointing out that if "Americana" and religious conversion were the primary criteria for land rights, it would fundamentally subvert the strict immigration and sovereignty standards typically championed by the conservative base. Commentators observed that by emphasizing a divine right that can be accessed through formal adoption of a faith (like Judaism under Halakha), Huckabee inadvertently suggested that land ownership is fluid and based on personal choice rather than national borders and that anyone adopting "American" culture and Christianity could theoretically claim a similar right to U.S. soil.
Tucker Carlson himself pressed this point during the interview, framing Huckabee’s stance as prioritizing biblical interests over American national security and domestic stability. Media coverage from The Times of Israel highlighted that this specific logic alienated paleoconservative viewers who view land rights as strictly tied to citizenship and existing borders, not religious or cultural affinity.
Analysts argued that Huckabee’s "take it all" and culture-based land rights logic would be impossible to apply consistently. If a cultural shift is the requirement for statehood or land rights (as Huckabee suggested for Palestinians), it creates a standard that could be used to justify mass displacement or resettlement based on subjective cultural assessments. Ultimately, the media consensus was that Huckabee's attempt to use religious and cultural justification for territorial expansion created a "double-edged sword" that could be used to challenge the very concepts of national sovereignty and immigration control he otherwise supports.
In the aftermath of Mike Huckabee’s interview with Tucker Carlson, mainstream media and political analysts have described the exchange as a strategic disaster that backfired on several fronts. Instead of mending a rift within the Republican Party as intended, the interview exposed deep ideological contradictions that critics argue have undermined the administration's broader policy goals.
Huckabee has gone native and needs to be recalled.
When Huckabee proclaims that the US and Western Europe and Canada and Australia should be white homelands then I will pay attention to what he says.
Otherwise he has a double standard for one particular nation—totally unacceptable.
Huckabee is wrong to claim religious or cultural factors have anything to do with land ownership. That depends entirely on national sovereignty....ie the ability to conquer and hold land by force. “International law” is a fiction. All that there is is treaties between sovereign countries.
Anybody who wants to contest land ownership better bring a very powerful army. At the end of the day, that’s what it comes down to - and always has.
…and not only do the physical descendants of Abraham have a Biblical mandate to the land between the Tigris and Euphrates, they also have the means to destroy their enemies. Our coercive aid and threats keep Israel boxed in. If we allowed Israel to “take off the gloves” there would be a lot more resorts and parking lots across the Middle East.
(Not Tigris and Euphrates…Euphrates and Nile)
No, SOME Christians use that argument to rationalize their antisemitism. This Christian doesnt.

The British created land titles during their mandate.
The property ownership evidenced by those titles should be respected insomuch as sanely possible.
Arabs that have lived in peace with their Jewish neighbors should be able to live peacefully where they are. Their houses, the curtilage to those houses, and their olive groves and their rights to them should be respected.
The Arabs that fled during the 1948 conflict have generally had their minds poisoned by hate. They can’t be welcomed back to ancestral areas. They need to make their lives in places where they are welcome, such as Gaza and the West Bank.
That Jews lived and controlled what is modern Israel is insufficient justification in itself to justify displacement of a peaceful Palestinian.
Like that's not happened before.....

Carlson is a talking head, and has managed some stupid stuff, interviewed some stupid people and is his own self-promoted product.
Then, there's this:

The truth about Tucker Carlson – and it isn't pretty 12 February 2026
"Now we're truly in la-la land here. Fighting antisemitism has become an industry. But there's another industry that's forming in this country. It's the anti-antisemitism industry. Its CEO: Tucker Carlson. Director of public relations: Candace Owens. Press secretary: Dave Smith. Nick Fuentes is sort of the black sheep of this group, with no official position."Now, both industries are fraudulent. The first group is fighting an imaginary phantom. The second group is fighting its own imaginary phantom. We need to return to base camp, to come down to earth, to avoid the errors of both groups. This is not a debate about canceling anyone."

D'Souza makes a fine point, whether one debates in this thread from a Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or even secular perspective. The real issue is Islam itself, and, in his words, "Islamophobes are the ones most alert to the Satanic project to destroy Christianity and America and the West."
God’s covenant is everlasting. Real Christians know that. The Jewish people will have more troubling times in the future. Satan hates covenants. When the prophet Daniel’s 70th week comes up, the Jewish people will be fooled by the antichrist into a false peace agreement. It will be broken half way through it. Real Christians know that too. The two witnesses will preach in the streets of Jerusalem and many Jews and other people will be saved just in time. OBTW. I would not wait for that to happen. Accept the eternal gift of what Jesus did on the cross and His resurrection today. Real Christians have done so.
Mike Israel first hukster. He should get a room with Levine
Why would Huckabee agree to communicate with Tucker in any way, shape, or form? That’s just stupid.
Tucker has become an unserious hack, and meeting with him gives him some level of credibility.
” how do we know that Carlson didn’t edit the interview?”
Good question. That snake cannot be trusted.
John 10:34 [34] Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? [35] If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Genesis 17: [1] And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. [2] And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. [3] And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, [4] As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. [5] Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. [6] And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. [7] And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. [8] And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. [9] And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. [10] This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. [11] And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. [12] And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. [13] He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. [14] And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. ... [18] And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! [19] And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. [20] And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. [21] But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
Gfy, it’s become a curse on humanity. Who do you think has been controlling us since they killed JFK?
So much for you saying you only hate Israel not Jews, reprobate. And stuff your comebacks down your reprobate throat.
Half wrong.
Believing the New Testament isn’t an ‘argument’, its a fundamental tenant of being a Christian.
That won’t go well if you tell it to YESHUA at the judgement. Antisemites will NOT see heaven.
