A driver armed with a flamethrower has rammed a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power substation in a possible “terrorism-related event.”
The rented silver Nissan Sentra crashed through a secured gate at the site in Boulder City, Nevada, before a gun went off on Thursday.
A man, who was wearing “soft body armor” and had two shotguns and an assault rifle-style pistol, was found dead in the car suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said on Friday they were investigating the attack.
A police statement said: “Officers discovered a deceased adult male in the driver’s seat suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Multiple firearms were observed inside the vehicle.”
Officials said that there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.

Stocked rifles with barrels under a certain length are illegal. So people who think they need such a thing contrive powerful, high-capacity “pistols” by combining an AR15 lower, a buffer tube without a buttstock, and a short upper with a 10”-ish barrel. These are often used with some sort of unattached “brace”, to afford stability. There are similar “pistols”, using short-barrelled AKs without buttstocks.
These things seem useless for any purpose other than spraying a crowd, but I’m sure some folks justify them.
