Sad, hopefully not to callus but one should really know their limits when exercising such activities.
despite calling 911 for help
Yeah, uhhhh, I wouldn’t expect an ambulance to get there anytime soon.
In a mountain range full of firewood to keep warm...
The key to hiking Madmani’s highest peak in New Yawk is do it in the summer. Global warming will kill ya in the winter.
Many people has hobbies that require common sense, or bad things happen. Snow skiing in avalanche conditions, flying at night at low AGL or into IMC, and surfing with the sharks are a few.
Dopamine is a heck of a natural drug.
Hiking alone in single digit temperatures. Where do people get the idea this is a safe thing to do. Eight back country skiers dead in Tahoe after they ignored blizzard and Avalanche warnings. Good judgment seems to be a rare commodity these days.

She should have known the temps before she set out - and if she did, would have saved the hike for another day. If she didn't check the temps, she was inexperienced and shouldn't have been hiking at all.
Did she get the “clicks” she was looking for when she pulled that stunt?

And balanced on the biggest wave,
You race to-wards an early grave.

An incredibly adventurous spirit.
