I love hiking, but knowing when it isn’t a good idea to start or continue is critical for safety.

My rule was only to ride when the temperature started with a 5 and preferably with a 6.

At 21 years old, a lot of us were still figuring out what those limits were. Looking back at that age, I probably took similar if not greater risks and could just as easily ended up as a popsicle on a mountainside, alligator food in a swamp, or any other number of unpleasant endings.
