An avid New Jersey outdoor buff slipped off a trail and froze to death while hiking New York’s highest peak with her dog — after it took rescuers more than six hours to find her in bitter single-digit temperatures, officials said Wednesday.
Brianna Mohr, 21 — who posted breathtaking Instagram photos of herself on remote adventures — called 911 while clinging to the side of Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks at 3 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
But rescuers couldn’t find Mohr, of Brick, until after 9 p.m., at which point she had died of hypothermia, New York State Police said.
Temperatures in Keene, New York, where the mountain is located, ranged from -8 to 20 degrees that day...

How is the dog, it’s not like she gave it a choice.
No mention of what happened to the dog.
The Adirondacks have sure grown taller since I was last there. That first picture almost looks like Yosemite.
New York’s highest peak in winter? Whoever said G*d protects drunks and fools didn’t think of this scenario.
Mohr’s dog was found uninjured.
Probably an earlier picture of her before her fatal hike.
It is sad. At 21, most people are still “bulletproof.”
R.I.P.
ok thanks....at least one silver lining to all this
On the scale of Hard Things, Mohr chose a 10.
And social media logs another kill. When the quest of posting a “breathtaking Instagram photo” overrules your common sense, you lose. She’s not the first, and will not be the last.
It's not just you.
And balanced on the biggest wave,
You race to-wards an early grave.
Young folks just think nothing bad will ever happen to them. I was same way. Did stupid stuff like driving on a lake when ice was questionable- had to even gun it getting back on shore becsuse ice melted about 6 feet from shore. Walking on questuknable ice and fell through 3 times- thankfully in shallow enougn wqter that ididnt go under. Talk about painful! Driving fast, jumping off cliffs into water-, working several stories high on roof no safety line, (3f3n f3ll 2 1/2 stories into a bison enclosure) lotsa dangerous stuff.
Nkw that ive wised up some, you watch, i’ll be done in by som3 kind of safety devise, probably trip on the ice with cleets on and the cleets will luncture a vein and bleed out lol
An incredibly adventurous spirit.
Mohr is less.
Valery is still out there.
Whew! Thank God the dog is safe! Another “avid hiker”...no doubt a democrat...bites the dust.
I used to rock climb, but that looks just dumb. Sweaty hands on smooth stainless steel? I don’t care how much chalk you have in your bag.
