Young Scottish actress Mandipa Kabana has been cast to play Joan of Arc in a 2026 Scottish theatrical production that explores the “power of youth-led change”. 'Classic tale of war, duplicity, power and wealth gets a fresh new treatment' writes The Herald about the upcoming theatre adaption of Joan of Arc. Stewart Laing, the theatre director who cast Mandipa, had compared the French Patron Saint to Greta Thunberg: "Look at someone like Greta Thunberg. There are young people with loud voices protesting against those in power."

— Comparing Saint Joan to Greta Thunberg... both disturbed, adolescent European girls who think God speaks through them.

Imagine a movie set in and about 15th century Japan starring a 6 foot 4 blond haired blue eyed Swede.
What? Its no more ridiculous than the constant race swapping (ie substituting Blacks for White Europeans when there were zero Blacks present) that’s done all the time in the West nowadays.

Some race swapping of roles is agenda driven. Ideologues look to put non-whites in white roles for no reason beyond the race swap. That is wrong and should be opposed. But I think conservatives have a knee-jerk opposition to race swapping that isn’t right either. There are good artistic reasons to take a classic and change the characters and setting. Also, it is a valid point that we live in a multi-cultural world and having non-whites in roles in classic Western plays and literary adaptations expands the reach of those works of art to a broader audience. If a play or adaptation is good, I don’t care if the races of characters are swapped.

Yes, I think it’s really a falsification, and annoying for the viewers to boot.
Now, the BBC has produced a new TV series „Lord of the Flies“. I haven’t seen it, but why are there so many actors who don’t look like indigenous British children?
In the early 1950s, when William Golding wrote the novel on which the series is based, there were almost no non-white people in Britain.
And why is the bad guy, Jack Merridew, played by an angelic looking blue-eyed blond, who looks very much like Ralph, the good guy? In the book, Jack has bright blue eyes, yes - but auburn hair and freckles.
I wonder whether no young actor could have been found who resembles Jack, as he is described in the book.
The only character in the book, whose skin is described as a shade darker than that of the other boys, is Simon (who is possibly of partially Anglo-Indian heritage. While rare, that would not have been totally unrealistic in 1950s Britain).
Then rename it and rewrite it.
Her parents, however, as you hint, are filth. So are the retinue her despicable parents hired to monetize Greta's environmentalism while using this ill child as a human shield.
It is well-documented that Greta is on the autism spectrum and suffers from ADHD. She was suffering from depression as well. Greta, while searching for meaning in life, picked up on this green nonsense.
Her parents, rather than setting her straight - or since they’re leftists, at least protecting her - quickly pushed their minor into the limelight. This is neglectful, but hey the cash started to tumble in, and the parents' child was a comfy human shield.
