PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A Florida couple was arrested after a game of pickleball escalated into a fight, authorities said.

According to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office online booking records, Anthony Edward Sapienza, 63, and his wife, Julianne Sapienza, 51, both of Ponce Inlet, were arrested on Feb. 8.

While five people on the court were directly involved in the fight, it was unclear how many other witnesses participated. The affidavit stated that 20 people were involved.

Up on the hill on Duck Island, at the state park, two of the five tennis courts are closed because they are in such bad shape. The other three are seldom used anymore.

Meanwhile across town, a very large wellness park is about ready to open. It has among lots and lots of other things five pickleball courts.

I posted on another thread that after living in south Florida for 25+ years, I had to move to north Florida to move south. Although that’s changed too in the last 20 years I’ve lived in north Florida.
