OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska’s Republican secretary of state will turn over sensitive information on every registered voter in the state to the U.S. Justice Department on Thursday after Nebraska’s highest court rejected a legal effort to block the move.
Secretary of State Bob Evnen told The Associated Press that the Nebraska Supreme Court denied the injunction Wednesday.
Last week, a state judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by government watchdog Common Cause, which sought to stop the release of voter information, including dates of birth, addresses and partial Social Security numbers, to the federal government.
“This case threatens the unprecedented and unlawful release of highly sensitive information of every Nebraska voter,” lawyers for Common Cause wrote in a brief seeking the injunction. “Once the data is released, that bell cannot be unrung.”
The legal fight in Nebraska comes in the wake of an FBI raid that saw it seize 2020 ballots and other election documents from Georgia’s Fulton County and President Donald Trump declaring he wants to “take over” elections from Democratic-run areas with the November midterms on the horizon.
The federal Justice Department began last year pushing states to turn over their voter data and other election information. The department has sued at least 23 states and the District of Columbia in its effort to obtain voter rolls.

So I think sensitive data is name address and age plus eligible to vote i.e. citizen. Remember the federal government has your tax filings and your passport. So really what sensitive data is on your voter registration card that is not on your taxes.
What are Common Cause and Nebraska Dims trying to hide?
“So really what sensitive data is on your voter registration card that is not on your taxes.”
You are making an assumption there. . . :)
Whether or not you voted or are registered to vote.
What ‘Highly Sensitive’ information is there to be gleaned from voter rolls? I honestly don’t know, but am inclined to think it’s limited to full name, address, and party affiliation.
From the article: “Election officials have raised concerns that federal officials are trying to use the sensitive data for other purposes, such as searching for potential noncitizens on the rolls.” I do not share the officials’ concerns, as it would seem to me that identifying and eliminating fraudulent registrations is a valid exercise of authority.
In the UAE there are citizens and then there are the other 90%. Citizens pay taxes and also share in the oil wealth. They are all rich by our standards. The other 90% do everything. But if they commit a crime they are thrown out of the country back to Pakistan or where ever. They can never come back. If the crime is against a citizen there are very strict penalties. If its against a foreigner they mostly get thrown out. The reality is that most countries are mostly allowing immigrants to work but never become citizens. The fact that they can become citizens is why many want to come here. And many of those have been thrown out of other places. So they are only fleeing their own bad judgement and practices, not persecution.
The US government already has dates of birth and Social Security numbers.
Define “Sensitive Data”.
Like Address, Citizenship, Drivers license, and possible SSN?
All that’s already on the dark web the IT guys tell me. How is that sensitive?
What is “sensitive” about voter registration data?
Just an objective view here.
If only the “red” states clean up their voter rolls, doesn’t that set up the Republicans for massive defeats electorally when the “blue” states don’t clean up their voter rolls?
And not only do the “blue” states not clean up their voter rolls, but actively promote the various forms of voter fraud and, in lockstep, vote against a federal law to help prevent voter fraud . . .
Federal govt already has this info, if they don’t then the person is illegal most likely
😂
The government already has this information, which is visible to hundreds of thousands of government employees.
What a bunch of retards, those who actually believe this is a threat to their privacy.
Of course, the ones organizing this resistance to releasing the voter rolls know quite well this is just smoke and mirrors to fool, obfuscate, and outrage the "Useful Idiots" who they mobilize to protect their illegality.
Oh, I’m sure sensitive data is oh so much saver in the hands of state officials than with the Feds. s/
Wow these same folks didnt care while Obama spied on millions of American citizens and now they care about sensitive info.
Voting records are public.
All NE is doing is submitting them for review looking for fraud.
Just what “highly sensitive data” have Nebraska political bosses collected on Nebraska’s citizens, anyway? Right there is the core of the problem.
No.
In Republican states we’re removing illegally voted ballots in most cases. Dem votes.
