Pima County Sheriff’s Department detectives are searching a septic tank behind Nancy Guthrie’s house, with drone footage showing them opening a manhole cover in the backyard.

I never said it was unprecedented. I just said it was nuts.
If this was any other 84 year old woman, it would barely get a mention on local news, let along international news.
NOT EASY TO DIG OUT THE SAND ABOVE A TANK COVER & THE COVER ITSELF IS HEAVY.
HAVE LIVED RURAL ON SEPTIC TANKS FOR PAST 33 YEARS & ALSO WHEN A KID RAISED ON A FARM.
THIS IS A REALLY TWISTED TURN OF EVENTS, IMO

It could just be the pond kind.
Not likely that one would try to dispose of a body in such a specific place with no light, knowing that they would most likely leave all types of unseen trace evidence."
Someone -- let's say a pendejo day laborer -- comes in contact with an 84yo woman who lives alone in a McMansion.
Gets up on the hot roof, hate his job, brain is melting, cooks up a bad thought: 'We just do the deed at outset, and then make the ransom demand, just like we do back home'.
Feds are playing these guys at this point. She's gone, and they are trying to spring the honey trap on these mojados.
I think we all know WHO the perp probably is but for some reason we are reluctant to say it out loud. Okay, YOU first!

Who?
I figure it’s Hillary Clinton. But I’ve been wrong before.
It’s news because it’s Guthrie. Otherwise, the best it’s gonna get would be a silver alert.
And the folks on Fox are salivating over the prospect of this being a murder case. It’s gross.
The picture I saw had the lid at grade. Most modern septic systems require at grade access.
“ The sheriff is a dem hack no wonder he’s an incompetent moron”
Is he the idiot with 4 stars on his collar? Law officers have no place using military insignia on their uniforms.
You know. We all know but are reluctant to say WHO. Don't be shy. Say the name! Say it! SAAAAAAAAY IT!!!!
I knew from the second I saw him he made Barney Fife look like a MENSA member
:: I think this is just to scratch it off of their list of places to search. ::
Plus, they have a newb that needs slop training.
What makes you think they were looking for the woman?
They could be looking for any number of things, such as surgical gloves, paper towels, and any other items that might have been related to the kidnapping.

Somebody should tell them that there are cameras with flexible cables and illumination that can go as long as 400ft.
And no fall-protection (rails)/confined space signs so the newb doesn’t stick his head in there to have a look see.
Shhhh!
Don’t tell him about the suffocating gas volumes ...
in Arizona, the septic tanks have a giant screw cap that sits just above ground level
ugly as can be
no pond type septic systems in southern Arizona
the tanks have a large ugly screw cap that the health department requires to be couple of inches above ground
the screw caps openings are big enough to slide a grown man inside
OTHERWISE
she might be in an abandoned mine shaft
I wonder if the cadaver dogs have been to the Guthrie neighborhood
They may just be looking for evidence that was flushed down the toilet. Rubber gloves or something.
Its a water tank and Imma guess they were looking for a body.
Yes.
Is the NY Post certain they were taking the cover off the septic tank? The house was build in the early 1960s. I think it was first occuppied in 1963. The presidential election of 1964 pitted LBJ against Barry Goldwater. LBJ and the Dems ran numerous ads claiming Goldwater would get us into a nuclear war. People were building fallout shelters in their backyards. The was a story not too long ago about a guy finding the entrance to a fallout shelter in his back yard in Tucson. Perhaps the cap they were talking off was not to the septic tank.
