The mayhem started an hour before sunset on Tuesday as residents of the farming community were heading home from their fields, where they grow yams, maize and millet.
The militants headed straight to the home of traditional leader Umar Bio Salihu - because they had written to him asking if they could come and preach...
Salihu was not at his home in Woro at the time, so they set his compound alight and killed two of his children.
...
The jihadists then went on a killing spree that lasted all night.
Amnesty International said many of the dead had been found with their hands and feet tied - some had had their throats slit, others had been shot dead.
When the jihadists left in the morning, they took with them 38 women and children, including the rest of the traditional ruler's family.
...
According to Amnesty, the jihadists had been leafleting the two villages for the last five months.
"These communities have been receiving these pamphlets, soliciting them to join the extremist views and preaching by these militants," Isa Sanusi, head of Amnesty International in Nigeria, told the BBC's Newsday programme.
"After they see a bit of resistance from the people, they then started sending them warnings," he added.
This correlates with Usman's account - that locals had received warnings days before the violence began.
Local MP Saidu Baba Ahmed told the BBC said the latest communication had been sent to Salihu, who had contacted the security forces about the letter.
The military went to the area briefly to investigate, but after they left, the jihadists launched their assault, he said.

Some black lives matter more than others.
No way to tell how many Christians have been killed.
One website:
The violence is escalating. In just the first 220 days of 2025, an estimated 7,000 Christians were killed in Nigeria—an average of thirty-five deaths every single day, according to the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law.1
These attacks are carried out by radical groups and Fulani militants, often aligned with Islamist extremist ideologies.2 Since 2009, Boko Haram and ISWAP (the Islamic State—West Africa Province) have waged jihad campaigns. In that time, more than 50,000 Christians have been killed, and thousands of churches burned.3
The term “Christian” in Nigeria is broad and covers Catholics, Protestants, non-denominational, and Baptists. But it surely includes thousands of born again Christians. They are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ.

This is yet more evidence of the wisdom of our Founders. Lots of people in the US have lots of guns.
Any such jihadist activity here could well meet with a bit of pushback. This is especially true in Middle America.
Now for a bit of humor to my post. 72 virgins would be hell on a man. Imagine the bitching and complaining about your virility (72 is a lot to service) and the jealousy in the harem. 72 virgins come with 72 mother in laws, 72 menstrual periods etc. Imagine what the kitchen would be like with those 72 all together. All this might make homosexuality a venue or Christianity. I opt for Christianity. LOL
We need to arm and train the Christians.
Kill all the male Muslims involved this. Half of the women were probably kidnapped from the Christian group.
Start putting their heads on pikes. Vlad was onto something, there.
Kill the murderers!
Fitting. That is what Islam preaches...murder kidnapping enslavement. Satanic to the core.
As usual, the FReeper Allahu Akhbar Chorus that claims the High Ground of Christianity is nowhere to be found when the muslims murder Christians and no Jews can be plausibly blamed.
Nothing of value was lost.
Horrendous post.
When it’s your fa I’ll, you may feel different
Family
the saddest part ... all those women that were kidnapped will be raped and one day their grandchildren will do the same to others Christians. That is the Muslim way.
Pure evil.
Quoting my younger self, “72 virgins? How the heck am I going to entertain myself the second month of eternity?”
Doesn’t that also mean 72 Mothers-In-Law?
No thanks.
Don’t trust terrorists.
With great difficulty. I would suggest fleeing with just one lovely lady to a Christian Church. LOL
This reminds me of Mao-tse Tung's principle that the revolutionary is the fish that swims in the sea of the people.

When people claim there are members of Free Republic who are racist, they are referring to users like this one. They seem to be the kind of people who test the limits of what they can get away with.
But this is against site policies as per FR home page:
“Free Republic does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government.”
and...
“Please enjoy our forum, but also please remember to use common courtesy when posting and refrain from posting personal attacks, profanity, vulgarity, threats, racial or religious bigotry, or any other materials offensive or otherwise inappropriate for a conservative family audience.”
If someone reports abuse on these posts, the admin moderator might take them down. The reason I have not is because I think it is a good idea to be able to look at a person's history and see what sort of person you are dealing with.
In my opinion, wastedyears is a proud, self-righteous person who thinks he's wiser than God and more righteous than Jesus. Otherwise, he would never post such horrific statements.
I wondered if the comment was posted due to a misreading of the event, as in a bunch of Islamists got attacked? This was of course not the case.
