I could even accept that in the commotion and heat of the Moment, it is perhaps understandable the agents fired because they were put in that position by a citizen they were struggling with.
However, what I cannot excuse was noem coming out and making a statement which basically said this guy came with a gun planning to kill as many agents as possible. Before you make a statement like that in an incident like this, you make damn sure of your facts. She did not.
The only out she could have on her statement is that she said it appeared to have happened that way, but that’s not even a good enough escape clause for what she announced to the nation.
If she had come out and said of course it will be thoroughly and carefully investigated and all such incidents are a tragedy, however this is the kind of thing that can happen for whatever reason when citizens start struggling with officers during the arrest of a criminal, that would have been fine.

Pretti didn’t threaten anyone with his gun.
He was following the gun laws of his state, where you are allowed to bear arms. He never touched his gun.
I see many in the current US administration putting blame on Pretti just for carrying a gun... Excuse me, what??

Not really ... he apparently wasn't carrying a photo-ID as required by the (unconstitutional) terms of the Minnesota (unconstitutional) "shall issue" carry law.
We have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight and slow motion. Those officers did not. They heard someone say “Gun!” and something was in Pretti’s hand. It is very common for people to carry more than one weapon. It would be very difficult in all of the chaos and the very short period of time for the officers to know that it was a phone and not a weapon. At the time he was shot, Pretti was also reaching towards his right hip and holster, where he could have been concealing another weapon.
Rand Paul is the last one to be criticizing anyone on poor judgment.
Real support for 2A makes some people uncomfortable ... They seem to like velvet-covered chains and fur-lined handcuffs.
