CNN reported Monday that controversial Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino will be leaving Minneapolis, where he has been overseeing operations and vehemently defending officers following the shooting death of 37-year-old Alex Pretti.
Anderson Cooper broke the news Monday afternoon, saying, “Sources tell CNN that top Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino and some of his agents are expected to leave Minneapolis tomorrow,” before tossing to reporter Priscilla Alvarez.
“This really is a major shift in strategy here by the Trump administration,” Alvarez began. “Recall, Gregory Bovino has been a key player in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown and became, in many ways, the public face of that crackdown across cities in the country. Most recently, of course, in Minneapolis.”
“We are now being told by sources that he is going to be departing Minneapolis with some of his Border Patrol agents tomorrow and going back to their respective sectors,” Alvarez said. “Now, we’re also told that part of this has been influenced by the frustrations within the administration over the handling and the public response of Saturday’s shooting.”
Earlier Monday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt hinted at Bovino’s reassignment, saying, “Mr. Bovino is a wonderful man and he’s a great professional. He is very much going to lead Customs and Border Patrol throughout and across the country. Mr. [Tom] Homan will be the main point of contact on the ground in Minneapolis.”
In addition to giving press conferences where he described his border patrol agents as the true “victims” in the incident with Pretti, Bovino spent the weekend sparring with lawmakers and journalists on social media.
After CNN’s Jake Tapper insinuated he was a liar, Bovino asked for proof, writing, “Then identify the lie, Jake. No one can seem to find this mysterious ‘lie’.”
Tapper was happy to oblige, posting reams of court documents where a judge wrote, ““Bovino admitted in his deposition that he lied multiple times.”
“Let me know if I can help with anything else,” Tapper wrote.
Well I think they will and I think if Trump deploys the Military that will doom the GOP and may well anyway so he is smoothing things over and you watch ICE will slip out\no major arrests. Trump does not like confrontations ...

Rant on!!!! Look, from what I can tell from the videos I’ve watched, this is at the very least a negligence issue. It appears one fed took the gun out of Pretti’s holster, someone says, “gun gun gun,” a round goes off (possible ND of Pretti’s gun by the guy who took it off him, or someone else) and folks just started laying down lead. Not the first time something like that has happened, won’t be the last. That being said, it wasn’t a good shoot, so someone has to take the hit. If I had to imagine the group of feds involved are in the hot seat, and in order to deescalate, my guy has to leave the area. Does this mean we pull all of them out? Hell no! We go back at Tampon Tim even harder and tell him, “you want us gone? Get rid of this sanctuary state bullshit and work with us and we will!” He won’t agree, so then Trump goes Insurrection Clause and shuts the entire thing down, arrests Walz, the LtGov, and that azzhat Ellison. Federalize the Guard so they don’t have to serve coffee and pastries to the rioters, and really start knocking heads!!! Be bold, be quick, be done with this mess within two weeks. Clean ‘em out. Every illegal man, woman and child. Get ‘em gone. Then cut my friggin’ taxes by 75%!!! Rant off... Whew!

Trump said Monday he was sending Tom Homan to Minnesota following Saturday’s fatal shooting of Minneapolis ICU nurse Alex Pretti by federal agents. The incident has inflamed tensions and drawn bipartisan criticism of the Trump administration’s portrayal — without evidence — of Pretti as someone who sought to commit an act of domestic terrorism and wanted to massacre law enforcement. Federal officials have so far declined to provide to the public critical details substantiating their claim an agent shot Pretti in self-defense.
The move to send Homan to Minnesota was met with some relief by Republican lawmakers and Homeland Security officials as the 64-year-old border czar has decades worth of law enforcement experience, beginning his career as a police officer in New York before becoming a Border Patrol agent in California in 1984. Homan also led Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s deportation efforts during the Obama administration.

I couldn’t agree more. They need a full brigade, helos, APCs etc. Not necessarily to shot people, but to keep them out of the way. And keep the streets clear.
