A friend suggests "ICE" has a negative connotation. He suggests DHS change ICE to National Immigation and Customs Enforcement, NICE.

I felt “ICE” was a mistake before this recent furor and just plain negative, now it is ridiculously negative, irretrievably negative, it should be rebranded with a carefully thought out name that is difficult to impossible for the media to work with.

ICE used to be the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), but they changed THAT name after the furor over Bill Clinton's INS agents seizing Elian Gonzalez on April 22, 2000 and sending him back to Cuba.

The left manage to make anything bad anyway, including names (liberal, progressist, environmentalist...), including NICE.
So changing a perfectly good name is pointless, it would only signal we lost the word war.
