Animal rights activists have staged an eye-catching protest by hanging a woman from her feet outside a London KFC and pretending to slit her throat in a bid to highlight how some chickens are slaughtered for food.
Several protesters from PETA were involved in the demo, which took place outside a branch of the fast-food chain on Brixton Road, Lambeth, at 12pm on Wednesday.
Two female activists, nude but for a beige bodysuit, were hung upside down with shackles around their ankles to simulate the way that many chickens are slaughtered before they end up on our supermarket shelves.
The women had fake wounds to their legs and were smeared with fake blood even before being approached by a male activist, who was dressed in blue overalls.
Holding a prop meat cleaver, he then proceeded to pretend to cut the women's throats while fake blood spurted from their necks.
One of the women was pictured pretending to scream as the 'killing' took place.
The protest was accompanied with placards and signs which read: 'Chickens: Shackled and bled out. Please, try vegan'.
The activists took to the streets of London during Veganuary to encourage members of the British public to stop eating animal products.
Video footage showed how shocked passersby stopped to watch the demonstration, with many filming it on their phones.
According to PETA, chickens 'form complex social structures, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future' just like humans.
'Chickens are curious, social, and full of personality, and they don't want to be killed for a fleeting taste of their flesh any more than any human would,' said PETA Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen.
'PETA is encouraging diners to leave chickens in peace, not pieces, by choosing delicious plant-powered foods instead.'

How can you tell if someone is a vegan?
You don’t, they tell you.
Would be more effective if they did this in front of MacDonald’s, she looks more like a deranged cow tan a confused chicken.
I’d be strongly tempted to peacefully eat a bunch of “original recipe” drumsticks in front of them ... let passers-by contrast my conduct with their hysterical screeching.
If that fat cow is what a Vegan looks like, I’ll stick with chicken.

When butchering chickens, a killing cone is the way to go. They have no clue what’s going on and it is painless and over in an instant.
Our next step to better self-sufficiency is going to include growing meat chickens. We already have laying hens and raise a beef steer on an 18 month cycle and buy a whole hog from the next farm over. We hunt. We fish. We grow a big food garden. We have fruit trees and small fruits.
Our critters live ‘Their Best Life Ever’ - right up until ‘Spa Day.’ ;)
Ever seen cattle raised in feed lots, or how chickens are raised for meat and eggs? Not a pretty sight.
Buy local when you can! Lots of people out there DO care about the welfare of food animals...we’re just not whacked out about it like PETA members.

My first job (outside of babysitting) was part time at KFC when I was 16. (We all had part time jobs then and managed to maintain our school and extracurricular activities schedules and social lives as well.)
We never had anything like that happen, because people like that were locked away in looney bins back then.
