An environmental group filed suit on Wednesday seeking to prevent the U.S. Interior Department from placing an image of President Donald Trump's face on annual entrance passes for national parks and federal recreational areas that go on sale next year.
Federal law requires the $80-a-year "America the Beautiful Pass" to bear the winning image from an annual photo contest depicting scenery or wildlife in a national park or forest, according to the Center for Biological Diversity's 16-page complaint.
The winning photo from the latest contest in June, sponsored by the National Parks Foundation, was a picture of Glacier National Park in Montana.
But the Interior Department chose instead to scrap that photo and unlawfully replace it with a close-up of Trump, wearing his trademark blue coat, red tie and scowling expression, next to a likeness of George Washington, the lawsuit said.
Such a move undertaken without congressional approval violates the 2004 Federal Lands Recreational Enhancement Act, it said.
Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, likened Trump's re-design of the annual parks pass to "the way he slaps his corporate name on buildings, restaurants and golf courses."

I don’t know if Trump had anything to do with this.
I think that the photo of Glacier National Park is more appropriate.
So if he gets his face on Mt Rushmore it would be all ok for him to be on the park pass then ?
If it’s the law it should be obeyed.
I may not agree on most things from the outfit that has entered the suit, but I do agree a national park pass should not have the likeness of any sitting , recent or living U.S. President on it. The pass is not meant to be a political promotion piece.

Special anniversary year and his photo on it makes a great souvenir and recognition that this year is different. I’d vote for that.

If some descendants of this generation want to put Trump’s likeness on Mt Rushmore, fine. But Mt Rushmore should be reserved for great and historically significant former leaders, not anyone alive and not anyone recent to a vote nominating them for it.

Well they are in the right even if their motives are questionable at best. If the law (not a rule or regulation) has a requirement of which photo appears on the annual pass then it should meet that requirement.
Surely Trump should be able to handle not having his face on the annual pass. He could have on the visitor info and brochures.
Was it on the annual national parks’ pass? Cause I missed that bit of news.
