Would it help the Iranian people if Trump offered them a fair trade deal once they get their freedom?

Would it bolster the ending of the Islamic regime? Just curious.

Probably about half would be excited and motivated to keep pushing for their “Ayatollah-Free” style of liberty.
The other half may be doubtful that there would be timely follow through, as described.

It was just last week when Trump repeatedly stated ‘I have your back! Help is on the way!” but help did not ever arrive before at least 20K Iranians were killed by Troops.
I fully support the president on many if not most issues, things, but I will openly state when it appears that either he or his Team ‘over-promised’ the Iranian people.

The new boss-same as the old boss.

They’re going to have to kill a lot of the thugs right off the bat. They will be forgiven if it’s done quickly. A Saddam-like trial for the higher-ups.

One problem with Trump’s style of negotiation, is that he is so mercurial, he could work out a trade deal on one set of presumptions, and then undo it because of something completely unrelated (e.g. annexation of Greenland). It is hard to plan around that. While treaties are broken more often than not, the speed at which Trump does it may not sit well in an unstable situation where EVERYTHING is at stake . That works better with the European powers, who SHOULD care about their own economies more than who is the sovereign of Greenland. They might not do the practical thing, if they think their own credibility or legitimacy is at stake.

I don’t think so. The Ayatollahs are fighting to stay alive. The military is too entrenched and connected to the survival of the Islamic state.

Maybe, but it would also help American consumers, both individual and industrial.

They will need as much help as possible to rebuild their country, at the lowest reasonable cost. A good trade deal could do that.

A good point. While Trump gets flak for proposing outrageous things, the bigger problem is that tomorrow he’s just as likely to say exactly the opposite.
