I used to be able to hover over my name to see my length here. now it doesn't seem as easy. Am I wrong? Any old school Freepers still hop in here? OMG It just said Freepers is an Unknown topic!!!
That’s about when I first found this forum. Then I lurked for many yeasrs finally joined in 2007. I remember Lewinsky, Bush-Gore, 9/11, coming here to watch the Firdos Square webcam and live thread, the destruction of Dan Rather, The Hobbit Hole. Great times.
I’ve been around since the since the Whitewater days. Back then you could post without an account. Then JimRob set up today’s account system and you had about a month to signup. Signed up then. After few couple months there was a software glitch and it caused many of originals to get a new date on our signup date to change to the date the glitch was fixed. Dec 1, 1997 but actually sometime in 1996.

In 1996 I quit a stupid job and started up a company in my basement that went nowhere.
But I heard Rush for the first time on the Heathkit radio I built in 1973.
Rush would say things I had been thinking for decades, but I had never heard anyone else say out loud. Suddenly, I was not alone.
Modern Conservatism as a movement came out of the shadows because of Rush. We could say what we thought because we finally knew we were not crazy and alone.
I *think* I was on another site with other Conservative Gals and one of them invited me over.
Didn’t like it at first in 2004. When I landed the place had been infiltrated with a bunch of Meal Girls (read: Cat Lady Lesbian Commies) and I was pretty sure this was NOT the place for me, LOL!
But I persevered. Now I can’t go a day without FR. :)

I heard about those days. I was doing bb’s on Compuserve but never discovered this one. Also early on you could see your number (rank) of when you signed up, I think I was #137.
Top left “Account” then “My Profile” lists your FR sign-up date. I am about 1 year “senior” to your date. (2000). (Us “OG’s”) 😉

I forgot the way to check your number
In an older version of the software when you hovered over your name (profile link) it had an indexed number instead of your name in the URL. JimRob got rid of the because people were using it to pull rank. These days people just say how old they are instead “Hey I’m number 137 and your 2051, so shove it!”
It was actually a good thing to eliminate because there were too many people with that attitude disrupting the conversation. It really was the wild west in the beginning.
