Since coming into the league, Kelsey Plum has been one of the most popular players among WNBA fans, not just because of her skills but also her look.
Between her scoring ability and her public profile, she’s always found herself at the center of online conversations — some more unserious than others.
This week, one of those discussions took a strange turn on X.
A post from @nikas2points sparked chatter after it read, “I feel like Kelsey Plum was meant to be gay. Devastating loss to the lesbian community that this mistake hasn’t been corrected yet.”
That single tweet opened the floodgates, with WNBA fans debating — jokingly and otherwise — whether Plum “fit” better in a different lane altogether.
@_jaynoesta leaned all the way into humor, posting, “it’s like they made a gay person a forgot to flip the switch before they sent her out of the factory.”

Others suggested the door might still be open. @emmywemmy_02 wrote, “didn’t she recently get a divorce? there is still time.”
Not everyone was entertained by the discussion. @OnlineSurfer777 pushed back, saying, “No. She needs to stay in heterosexual super straight team.”
Plum has been open about her personal life, including her brief marriage to NFL tight end Darren Waller. The two filed for divorce on April 23, 2024, less than a year after getting married, adding fuel to speculation that fans probably should’ve left alone.
“People forget she was a 1st draft pick.”: Plum lets her game talk Off-court noise aside, Plum reminded everyone why she’s been a star for years.
Playing for Phantom BC in the Unrivaled 3×3 league, Plum delivered a monster performance in a 94–60 win over the Lunar Owls. Her 38-point outburst tied Napheesa Collier for the most points ever scored in a single Unrivaled game and pushed Phantom BC to a 1–1 record.
@Matshi_M gave her flowers, saying, “People forget she was a 1st draft pick. Plum dawg got mad skills.”

@vaatto summed it up simply: “That’s a superstar stat line right there.”
And @BRo_Amore pointed out how well the format fits her, adding, “This format and pace is built for her skill set I predict she will lead the league in scoring if she stays consistent.”
Plum finished the night with 38 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds on 16-for-22 shooting — a performance loud enough to drown out whatever the internet was arguing about earlier.

Straight people can become gay, but the opposite is a crime, and suggesting conversion is the worst?
“flip a switch”? What the heck? They always say “you are born that way and can’t change.”
So, an admission they aren’t born that way?
Well, it seems like the message is gay people are born that way, and straight people are fluid.
Ah, flexibility within the production line, depending on the model. Sensible.
I know nothing about the WNBA, and even less about its players.
What are they talking about?

The article (referencing others’ comments) seems to be more in the line of they like her a lot and, therefore, wish she was gay so that their leftist sensibilities would allow them to like her more.
Leftists are literally judging and shaming her for her size and facial features.
terrible people.
Have seen her fire scorching passes threaded through multiple defenders Larry Bird-style.

Back up a minute ... WNBA has fans?
I’d prefer the Cadillac. Mid-60s GM cars are the bomb.
Proof that the WNBA has nothing to talk about = so they make up stuff
“””Back up a minute ... WNBA has fans?”””
Several in each city that has a team.
There apparently is a lot of pressure to become lesbian in the wnba and the lesbos will discriminate if you aren’t one of them..
This is one reason I don’t like the wnba...its lesbian central....I know gays,am related to gays and I like those that I know...but that group mentality is off putting and repulsive to me..be what you want to be but keep it to your own private self.
Grooming and conversion therapy are allowed only in one direction.
Why root for a women’s team that would get their clocks cleaned by most Junior High Male Basketball teams.
Exactly. Anyone calling this basketball is delusional.
