John Densmore and Robby Krieger – the two surviving members of the Doors – have appeared in a new music video with Playing for Change, the nonprofit project that brings together artists from all different countries and genres of music.
This time, the chosen song was the Doors' "Riders on the Storm." In addition to Densmore and Krieger, other musicians included Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson — sons of Willie Nelson — Don Was, Foo Fighters' Rami Jaffee, the Lakota Drum Group and many others.
"Vocally, Lukas Nelson filled Jim Morrison's leather pants quite well!" Densmore said in a statement (via Consequence). "Ray [Manzarek] would be proud of the way Rami Jaffee 'channeled' the piano solo. Mark Johnson masterminded a beautiful video."
"Seeing musicians from different cultures come together around this song means a lot," Krieger added. "Playing for Change is doing important work to unite people across the globe."
What Is Playing for Change?
Playing for Change was founded in 2002, and since then has worked with over 1,000 musicians from over 50 countries, showcasing the talents of those from all walks of musical life. Numerous rock legends have participated in the project over the years, including Bono, Keith Richards, the Doobie Brothers, Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, David Crosby, Robbie Robertson and many more.
"We had the idea to travel around the world, record different musicians playing their own songs, interview them about how does music persevere through struggles, and then connect them with the songs around the world," cofounder Mark Johnson explained of the project's origins to ABC News in 2009. "The idea is to show people enough different cultures using music to uplift themselves, so that we can see the connections we all have."
Nah, you need an actual psychopath in there to get the right degree of edge. ;-)
Very entertaining video.
Are there any Doors cover bands left? I saw one about 30 years ago and would love to find one again.
Ahh yes Karen, we all thank you so much for the warning.
My son had anger and temperance issues for many years. They found it was a thyroid problem. With meds, he is a real sweetheart now. Maybe go see your primary care provider.
From the Doors Workshop studio in West Hollywood, an alternate version (take 10) of “Riders on the Storm” with some humorous banter at the beginning by Jim Morrison and an interesting alternate solo by Ray Manzarek.

The Doors Workshop studio was located in West Hollywood, California, where the band used the space as an office and rehearsal studio from 1970 to 1971. It was here that they recorded their sixth and final studio album, LA Woman, which featured songs like “Love Her Madly” and “Riders on the Storm.”
I agree that Brave is an excellent browser, that I started using due to my distaste for disgustingly ad-filled websites, and YouTube where I just want to get to the content uninterrupted.
I find its search to be a time saver, as I put any terms or a question in the address bar and it comes up with an informative answer right at the top (with various relevant websites listed below that I can go to but often don’t because my question is already answered).
<<>> For example: “describe Brave privacy” (excerpted by me)
Brave is designed with privacy as a core principle, aiming to protect users by not collecting or storing personal data by default. The browser does not keep records of users’ browsing history or write personal data to the blockchain, ensuring that user information remains private.
Brave’s privacy framework extends to its search engine, Brave Search, which operates with a commitment to privacy by default. It does not collect personal information about users, their devices, or their searches, and does not transmit data that could be used to profile or track individuals.
Overall, Brave’s design prioritizes user privacy by minimizing data collection and leveraging strong technical safeguards across its browser, search engine, and associated services.

I've noticed several on YouTube with various names. Perhaps they give their concert info on the band's page there. You could put something like "Doors cover bands" in the search bar.
Speaking of "years ago", I saw The Doors perform in 1968. My older sister drove us to the venue. From Brave search....
"The Doors performed at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on August 30, 1968. The performance was filmed for the documentary Feast of Friends, which captured color footage of the concert using a 16mm professional film. This footage includes the band's full set, notable for Jim Morrison's request to turn off the lights during "The End," which he screamed for repeatedly until the house lights were extinguished.
The concert is also remembered for the presence of members of Jim Morrison's family and the audience's enthusiastic response to the band's performance."

Thanks again Med Karen. Remember you were the one pissing and moaning about a link. Next time just scroll by.
Fine, can you drop it now
Thank you for your permission Karen.
You’re welcome, as it became a thread hijack between you two, notwithstanding the one who started it with a whiny post.
It’s okay though, any post bumps the article to the top of the Latest Comments page, so more people get a chance to enjoy The Doors video and commentary. I think that’s what it was posted for.
RE: Nope, not even close. Cool graphic created video accompaniment tho.

I think the Playing For Change concept is interesting how they sync all the performers in various locations. I didn’t care for the ululation lady though. Maybe Jim would have thought it was cool.
I was touring with my own singing group in Paris on the same day that Jim Morrison died there, so I have that extra connection.
I can tell you are all by yourself tonight.
It was a great post and I posted the info about Brave so more could see it without the ads. Very entertaining and two thumbs up for another bump :)
Says the person who had to point it out because nobody else will talk to them either.
At least if I was alone I could be without making it everyone else’s problem. Some of us have self-respect.
No solo tonight. Meanwhile you’re over here doing emotional charity work for your own ego.
And if I was alone. You’re lonely. There’s a difference. Work on that.
Thanks. Sometimes I get to staying up all night watching videos, reading threads, and getting a little spacey from lack of sleep. I got mixed up, although I try to remain coherent.

Few and far between. Not many singers can cover Jim's style. And where are ya gonna get a Vox Continental organ these days? :-). One of my rock bands covers Roadhouse Blues and occasionally Back Door Man (which was already a cover when the Doors did it), but that's about it.
That said, a Google/AI query: "What are some of the current Doors tribute bands in the US?" returned about eight active Doors cover bands, including touring info. Good luck!
