This clip from Starfleet Academy, the new Star Trek series, proves that ST has hit rock bottom.
Apparently, it's not AI created. It's for real. I also saw it reposted on the Not The Bee's X thread.
As usual with ST, it didn’t get better until war with the Dominion.
A few years it was dismal. Deep Snore Nine. Followed by Boreager and then EnterSandman.
“The fan produced Star Trek Contines is quite good!”
Far better than any of the actual hollywood continuations of the original Star Trek franchise.
What's even more interesting is the Babylon 5/Deep Space 9 nexus.
That is funny.
Agree!
I’m rewatching DS9 myself as well. Season 4 and up it gets really good. Garek is an outstanding character.
Bump for later hijacking.
The Next Generation had much better looking women.
My final straw was the Last Jedi. About 8 years ago now. I basically shut down all of big entertainment after that. There are no doubt some glimmers of light in all the woke darkness but I no longer care. I have saved a lot of time and money since then.
These animated ones based on the 70s cartoon are good.

All of the Vulcan ritual scenes sprinkled through the Original Series have included a female "priestess", so it was at least hinted at.
As far as the original ST being woke, on a few things yes. Obviously it had a lot of peace through strength. And as far as racial diversity goes, that was only in the last season (1969) after the rest of society had decided that things like segregation were wrong.
As a Gen X programmer who was getting a BS in computer science when The Next Generation (TNG) was a thing, I can quote a lot of Star Trek. My pals and I hate the ultra woke of the later series like Discovery. But more than that, we miss the real science added to the sci-fi that was in TOS, TNG, somewhat in DS9, and brought back in ENT. I wish I had a dollar for every time I watched a new TNG episode and thought: "If you take away the overtly space fantasy stuff like warp drives and space aliens, the rest of that could really happen." The had excellent tech consultants who were real astronomers and engineers and physicists. I've seen exactly zero of that in the newer series.
I also miss the allegories to historical naval battles and situations. Things like the TOS episode when they meet the Romulans and have to deal with an enemy who can cloak unless firing (which always makes me think about the WW1 Allies dealing with German U-boats). Or the TNG episodes (2-parter) when Picard is assimilated by the Borg, the Borg goes ahead and fights a large space battle against many Star Fleet ships, and the Enterprise arrives too late and can only look at the view screen at all of the destroyed ships and lost comrades. That always makes me think of the real WW2 Enterprise aircraft carrier arriving at Pearl Harbor too late.
Well, Behr “borrowed” a lot of stuff from Babylon 5, but, even 2nd hand B5 is a lot better than average. ;-)
Season 1 of TNG was actually pretty bad, IMO. it’s like each episode was trying to teach you some politically correct lesson that would never apply in the real world. Season 2 was a little better, but it didn’t actually get good until season 3. I think it had to do with Gene Roddenberry having direct control of the show in the first two seasons, and applying his “vision” of the future. He was holding the show back in the opinion of some executives. He died sometime between seasons 2 and 3.
The original series reminded me a lot of the WW2 movies of the time. They just had that “feel”. And peace through strength was a real theme, as opposed to Picard always dropping the shields in response to an enemy threat in TNG’s first season. Roddenberry himself had little direct control of the TOS episodes, if I’m not mistaken.
“Apparently, Ozempic has been discontinued in the future.”
LOL!
It dealt with racism in Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, bigotry in The Balance of Terror, women's issues in Turnabout Intruder just to name some.
Roddenbury wanted to make the show about social issues disguised as science fiction.
Garage is possibly the best character in any Star Trek series. An enigmatic anti-hero.
Nah, they just quadrupled the size of the Transporter pattern buffers.
RE: Is there any way to control X videos, like backing them up or fast forwarding them?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes. On an X video, after clicking on the large arrow in the center to begin the video, if the cursor remains within the boundaries of the video, a horizontal line near the bottom shows the progress of the video by it’s movement. If you move the cursor outside the boundaries of the video while it is playing the line disappears. Move the cursor back onto the video to show the line again.
While the video is playing if you click anywhere on the progress line, the video will instantly move to that point in the video and continue playing at that point in the video (Please see alternate method in the next paragraph).
Clicking on the pause symbol in the lower left corner (or clicking anywhere within the video itself) stops the video. If you then move the cursor directly onto the line, a white ball will appear on the line at it’s point of progress. Click and HOLD (with mouse or trackpad) on the white ball while you move it horizontally to the left or to the right.
The video will move forwards or backwards in relation to how you move the ball, and if you stop moving the ball you will see a still image of the video at that point on the progress line. Click and HOLD on the white ball to move it again.
Further controls are seen in the lower right corner, only when the progress line is visible (either paused or playing). Click once on the gear icon there to reveal a popup menu. Click on Playback Speed and click on the speed you want, from 0.25x to 2x.
Click on Video Quality in the popup menu and you can choose your preference. Clicking on the gear icon again (or on the play arrow, or the video itself) will hide the popup menu.
Also in the lower right corner are icons for controlling Volume, Picture-In-Picture, Full screen, as well as the timestamp for elapsed and remaining time.
YouTube has similar controls. I find them quite useful either to save time, or to skip ahead or back to a key part, or to where the actual point of the whole thing is revealed.
For narrated type videos I usually speed them up to as much as 1.75, depending on how fast the person talks. Occasionally, if I’m having a hard time grasping what is said, I’ll slow it down a little to .85 or .9 and replay the sentence until I get it.
By the way, since 2005 when I joined the site, I’ve noticed many cogent comments by you, so thank you for that. As many have stated before, we wish that all posters could be that way.
