This clip from Starfleet Academy, the new Star Trek series, proves that ST has hit rock bottom.
Apparently, it's not AI created. It's for real. I also saw it reposted on the Not The Bee's X thread.
Star Trek has hit peak woke.
It was controlled by relatively apolitical moguls during the studio days. Which collapsed with the rise of TV, and the 1948 federally mandated theater divestment.
The late 1960s began to see the rise of independent artists, like Spielberg, Coppola, Lucas, Normal Lear, and others. More openly liberal than the earlier moguls. That period also began the corporate takeover of studios, and the merging of studios, radio, TV into giant media conglomerates, especially with Reagan's 1980s deregulation. Corporate overlords pressured the liberal artists to pay attention to the bottom line.
But the generation now in charge, among creatives and in corporate boardrooms, have been raised in far more left wing environments, fed on DEI, white guilt, and LGBTQ+. Gay culture was well underway in the 1990s in indie filmmaking and in gay friendly sitcoms like "Will and Grace," Friends, and Seinfeld. Things continued leftward, especially ruing the "Hollywood Too White" period of some 15 years ago, and even more so during the Summer of Floyd.
Hollywood has been getting even with Joe McCarthy for the past 70 years.
You never saw touch-feely Klingons in the 1960s ST.
I just started watching DS9 for the first time with my dad. We just finished Season 2. I like Quark and Odo. Gul Dukat is pretty interesting too.
DS9 improved steadily, and started firing on all cylinders in the 4th season. My favorite Trek franchise.

I thought the episode "Amok Time" established that.

I'm ten billion percent in on AI precisely because of what it CAN'T do.It can't pollute the world with it's private jet while telling you to ride the bus.
It can't spend millions a year on medication stolen from diabetics who actually need it to survive.
It can't influence national elections.
It can't dictate local government rules that regular people have to live under while it uses it's millions of dollars to move somewhere new to ruin more innocent people's lives with zero consequences.
It can't impose it's fake morality or outrage onto an entite country.
It can't demand that it be treated as the most important person in the world even though it is just a jester or clown that plays pretend.
It can't give special treatment to it's friends or family, while screwing more-deserving or talented others over.
It can't sing Imagine while actively helping authorities to keep me locked in my house.
And, most importantly, it can't r*pe, physically mutilate, or abuse innocent children.
Where's the downside???
Oh it's not "real"???
Yeah, neither are the ghouls and demons currently calling themselves actors.
All diversity and no script with bad directing and bad acting ?LOL
It’s real, and there are rumors that further production has already been cancelled before it’s even presented.
I was just working on posting. Only 5:17 minutes and a clip of the Graf Spee.
AI creators will just have to get a little clever—have fake actors that are not total duplicates but are sorta kinda imitations so that viewers would probably know who was being imitated.
I am looking forward to the AI future in movies—Hollywood has become toxic evil at this point and needs to be financially broken.
I gave up early on the spinoffs. Liked DS9, was okay with NextGen, couldn’t finish Voyager, and LOVED all the movies, including the Chris Pines ones.

The show hits its stride in season three, and seasons 5 & 6 have some amazing episodes. All the cast is pretty good, but the standouts are easily Jeffry Combs, Andrew Robinson, Marc Alaimo, and Armin Shimmerman.
If you ever get a chance, look up a movie called Arena on Youtube, it’s an old late 80’s sci fi movie with both Alaimo and Shimmerman as bad guys (Marc in grey makeup, and Shimmerman in full prosthetics). Makes you wonder if that’s what prompted their casting.
Star Trek has been hard to port ever since Trek Against Trump, so this is no surprise.
The fan produced Star Trek Contines is quite good!
.maintains the canon and has some particularly good continuation of TOS episodes.
Good point.
Oh yes, Andrew Robinson as Garack! He’s a pretty complex character. I remember Robinson as Scorpio from Dirty Harry.
You made me smarter.
Thx
