Nick Reiner’s weight gain and change of meds for his schizophrenia treatment was reportedly the catalyst behind his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s brutal murders.
Sources made the revelations surrounding Nick’s 2020 diagnosis and subsequent struggles with his medication regimen in TMZ’s new documentary, “The Reiner Murders: What Really Happened,” which aired on Friday.
In December, the outlet reported that Nick, 32, was diagnosed with schizophrenia — and in the weeks leading up to his parents’ deaths, the meds he was taking allegedly made him “erratic and dangerous.”

Doubt it. I bet he thought he was going to get cut off.
Patient: “I have schizophrenia.”
Modern Psychiatry: “Take these meds. They will make you erratic and dangerous.”
Its far too early for a truly authentic and factual “What Really Happened” documentary.
TMZ are just media/spectacle whores trying to make a quick buck
Are the Reiners maneuvering for an insanity defense _and_ a big payout by a pharmaceutical company?
Trump’s offhand comment on day one, who has nothing to do with the legal aspects of the case, nor will have anything to do with jury selection, court decisions, yada yada yada was brought up repeatedly because why? Because TMZ is owned by the Murdoch’s who hate Trump.
I’ll betcha not.they don’t recite those potential side effects in their commercials for nothing
Whatever he was on...it was probably pretty common...the guy is a piece of sh**. Someone was interviewing and he said he was in rehab 17 or 18 times and he was laughing about it. Just another sh** faced druggie...
Oh, no. His WEIGHT was a factor?
Stop, stop, don’t tell me, I know…NOT “the twinkie defense”?!
That hasn’t been used successfully since what, the mid-70’s?
Knowing average IQ’s have dropped 50 points since then, yeah, it could work on a voir dire jury of public education victims.
Well, that and he was bat chit crazy! 🙄
History for those who forgot about it:

As the article notes CA tightened up that legal loophole after the Dan White trial.
Btw—Dan White did get off relatively easily for murdering a mayor and a city councilman.

He only served five years in prison.
This ain't OJ, there's no mob of thousands ready to stand up for him or destroy the city if he loses.
(his high-priced former lawyer knew that too)
Rob Reiner was a very annoying person.
I’m not saying that’s why he was killed - but he was extremely annoying and people can only take so much.
bkmk
There is no cure for schizophrenia. He should have been locked up.
Dan White gave us Diane Feinstein.
He deserved life without parole for that alone.
He was being paid 10,000 a month allowance with free food and lodging with no job. My guess was that he was back into drugs, which magnify the effects of the other drugs, and daddy found out what he was doing in his spare time (all of his time) and was going to cut him off finally.
There are a lot of misinformed people on this thread.
I don’t really blame you. Unless you have first hand knowledge of dealing with a schizo-affective person you just have no clue whatsoever what the family deals with.
I won’t try to disabuse you of your notions.
Just recognize you have no clue.
A few on this site have dealt with someone in the family on the schizo scale.
It is a nightmare.
To this day I marvel at just how clever and manipulative my relative was and what he was able to get away with..and thank my lucky stars I had the good sense to turn it over to the VA to deal with.
It would have been much harder to hand over if parent or child.
Nick needs to be tested to see if he has any genetic problems with drugs. It is quite possible my relative did since I do. If so, it may be why there was such a problem regulating.
And yes, it is quite possible for Nick to be out of his head ,think Rob was trying to kill him, defend himself, and then go take a shower.
My relative thought I was trying to kill him. Was absolutely convinced of it and no one could talk him from it at the time.
Parents with schizo children are known to sleep with door locked and something to use as a weapon close by.
I have also read that Dan White was a coordinator for an anti-gun group in Northern California. Fitting he should be the shooter.
“We’re also told doctors did not attempt to place Nick on a temporary psych hold — one that could have lasted 14 days — to stabilize him.”
IF Parents didn’t go against medical advice the Doctors are about to be sued for a huge amount of money. And rightly so.
