Any other war adverse/antiwar FReepers support the Venezuelan op?

I'm probably one of the most antiwar posters on Free Republic.

I hate every bit of what we're doing in the Mideast and Europe. Deploying troops to Syria and Gaza, funding and aiding the Ukraine s**thole. Constantly warring with other nations on behalf of our (lol) "allies." It's all folly, even evil.

This is hitting different. Venezuelan Communist criminals confiscated -literally stole - American oil fields, private property that belonged to Americans and American companies. Nobody has been held to account until now.

Maduro is a criminal dictator who fk'd with our electoral and immigration systems in a major way. He's also a drug kingpin and illegitimate leader who stole his election at gunpoint and is hated by his own people.

And antiwar or not, the Monroe doctrine is reasonable. The Venezuelan mob was doing ops with the likes of China and Russia. We can't allow such in our backyard - this is not the Mideast. Communist dictators in Latin American working agaisnt us is soooo 1987. It needs to stop.

I'd also normally agree with those who argue congress needs to be involved, but this was more of a snatch-n-grab LEO op. If congress was involved, word would've gotten out. We'd have had dead military, and/or dead civilians and Maduro would be in hiding. Maybe all of the above.

This was done with minmal harm and colateral damage. Very well planned - the intel must have been pristine. I'm hearing Delta carried it out. Go Army. This is why we have a military.

IMO, this might be the most righteous, moral and finely executed military op we've done in 3 or more decades.

I would suspect that Venezuela is issuing an arrest warrant of their own for Manduro

Those on here who once supported open border globalist like Bush, are now concerned with "Nation building" by Trump.

Agree. This is not Bush I/II sending in 100s of thousands of troops to “conquer” a country.

This is a quick strike to fix an issue, and it did.

What people are missing is the action has come and gone.

Congress and the media can debate all they want, but the “war” is over.

I am not particularly anti-war. I think we should butt out of Ukraine, for inatance

There were American hostages taken by Maduro recently, too. There are MANY reasons to take out Maduro. I think we should have TAKEN him out permanently already, though.

This wasn’t war.
This was a Police Action to arrest a savage Killer of Americans, and to destroy the Murderers operation.

Let Venezuela run itself
If they want US help, they can can ask, and then pay for it.

Shining City on a Hill is an example to emulate.
Not to be forced on others.

I don't mind arresting Maduro.

But we need to be aware of "mission creep".

Ultimately, it's up to the Venezuelan people to sort it out.

This is what Ike should have done in Cuba.

Do we need to “invade” Venezuela? Not really. I would have liked to have had the woman ready to go in and take the reins. There are advantages to having governments in exile.

I DID think that his staff looked a little too excited at the press conference, but thats OK I guess.

Now, when he tries to do the same thing in Mexico I think there will be a bit more outrage.

I believe that any sane and rational person is war adverse and anti-war. That being said, if you’re going to do it then you need to do it right. This operation seems to have been taken with a clear objective, and flawless execution. I say Bravo Zulu to all involved top to bottom.

Bush I did a good job. Bush II got involved in "nation building".

I can’t grasp why you and the others here are proud of the enemies destroying the Twin Towers and murdering 3,000 Americans.

You apparently don’t give a damn about that occurance

Just give us the real reason for removal, and it’s not “fentanyl” or “terrorism”. Not regime change for its own sake, which was explicitly campaigned against. If Maduro was engaging in direct hostilities against Americans(including our oil companies), that’s a different matter. But be prepared to be treated the same if say, we seize foreign held property in the US.

The Venezuelans seem happy about it, so we better not be getting a wave of Venezuelan refugees.

My son died of a drug overdose.
I hope everyone in the supply chain all the way to the top that ever profited by a dime…ends their life in a jail cell or worse.

It took Bush 8 years, 171,000 troops, 4,000+ dead troops, tens of thousands maimed and traumatized, thousands of Iraqis dead from sanctions …
To take out Saddam Hussein. Who was zero threat to Americans.

It took Trump about 6 hours and zero casualties to take out the mass murdering mega Cartel head of the snake Maduro.

Who is complaining?

I worked next door , Colombia in the drug wars back in 2005-2009. Chavez was training Islamists then giving them Venezuelan passports and instructions how to get into the US and supporting the drug trafficking. We caught a lot in Cucuta and other border cities. He also funded and gave refuge to the FARC and drug lords.

Never publicized, never acknowledged, never reported.....but .gov knew about all of it. I am against war, ( having been in one) BUT I am glad he finally did something about it.

President Trump did not start this, he finally finished it. Anyone who says different does not know the history or the facts.
