Kyrgios won the tilt 6-3, 6-3 from a break down in the second set, and afterwards said the match was "a great stepping stone forward for the sport of tennis."
The much-talked about "Battle of the Sexes" match between Nick Kyrgios and Aryna Sabalenka was won Sunday by the Aussie in straight sets.
The two players promised "a show" in the months leading up to the event at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, but the marquee meeting took a while to warm up, both literally and figuratively, as the players adjusted to its modified rules. The court was nearly 10% smaller on Sabalenka's side, and both players serving once per point instead of the usual two.
The unique playing arena saw the two players trade breaks twice in the first set, before Kyrgios claimed the last three games. He also came from a break down in the second set of what was ultimately a 6-3, 6-3 win.
But saying afterwards that the match was more competitive than the scoreboard indicated, Kyrgios claimed there was no need to call himself the "champ."
"Seeing us out here tonight truly is a spectacle and is a stepping stone forward in the game of tennis," the former Wimbledon finalist said, adding that he was nervous to start because "this match was all the world was talking about for the last six months."
He also teased that the match could be the first of many meetings between the two, who are both represented by sports agency Evolve. The match was played in a friendly spirit, as the two players laughed and joked, hit some under-arm serves, and comically grunted. The top-ranked women's player arrived on court like a prize fighter, complete with a sparkling overcoat, and even danced during a timeout to entertain the 6,000 fans in attendance.
"I would love to play her again to show her talents and see what I have in the tank," Kyrgios said.
"I think it was a great level," Sabalenka said. "I really enjoyed the show ... and I feel like next time, when I play him, I'll know the tactics, his strengths, his weaknesses, and it will be a better show for sure."
"I love challenges and I would love to play [him] again," she added.

This event certainly received much less attention than the Bobby Riggs-Billie Jean King match many years ago.
Female tennis champion of the world, beaten by average man.
And if they didn’t bend the rules and court size it would probably have been 6-0, 6-0.

Why was it lose-lose for her, I think it was win-win for her, lose-lose for him.
Not giving him two serves means he beat the best girl with one hand tied behind his back.
Shorter court and he’s had major injuries. Both have said that there is a difference in sexes physically.
I would not say Nick Kyrgios is an average man. Kyrgios has been ranked as high as 13th in the world, and has won 63.7% of his professional matches. He went to the Wimbledon final against Djoko three years ago, and has been to the quarterfinals in the Australian and U.S. Open.
Now, Karsten Braasch was more of an average pro. He did get as high as #38 in 1994, and had a losing record overall. A journalist once said his training regimen was a couple lagers and a pack of cigarettes. In 1998, at 31, when he was ranked #203, he been 17-year-old Venus Williams 6-2, then Serena Williams 6-1.
The Williams sister were more realists. Before that match, thwey had claimed they could bet any man outside the top 200. Turns out they couldn't but it wasn't like they were claiming they could beat any man.
And they've been very honest since then that they would get lobbered by a man. Honestly, a woman using a power game would probably do worse against a man than someone like Eva Goolagong.
My mother was a much better tennis player than my father, but she couldn't beat him, because of the power.
She could beat him, or anyone else, at Ping-Pong though.

They shrunk her serving square and took away his fastball since he had no second serve and still waxed her. Liberals live in an upside down world.
It sorta proved that women cant compete agaisnt men a d that men dont belong in women’s sports, so the tranny crowd lost as well after this match. She was in ner prime, he is over the hill career wise, she had lretty large advantage with both a .arger court to play to, which took away his best weapon, his serve, while he had to defend against her full power serve and he still dominated her... not to mention he was injured and couldnt move newrly as well as he could when on top of his game.
Those are just a few reasons. It was kinda like the womenxs soccar team in the olympics (the team with the lgbtq player megan rapino i think her name was?) When they played against a highschool boys team and lost badly. Made them look pretty weak, something feminists, who insist women are just as good as men and deserve same sports recognition as a result (think of the women’s ,eague 8n basketball demanding equal pay despite not drawing nearky the amount of viewers) hated to happen.

No, they did not play a nationwide high school boys team, they lost 5-2 to a under 15 team of boys from just the Dallas area. So, their were some freshman on the team, but middle schoolers too. And it wasn't the best from the whole U.S., just the Dallas metro area.
whatever- the point was that it was embarrassing for the women’s team- couldn’t even beat a bunch of kids- they wouldn’t have even scored against a real man’s team yet the women’s team was demanding equal pay- megan railed about it- claiming they were as good as the men- she was embarrassingly proven wrong
