Florida man Michael Green is suing the Outback Steakhouse in Ocala because he says a toilet shattered and collapsed beneath him, causing "significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function."
The toilet in Outback was allegedly unbolted, which caused it to shift around on the tile. When Green sat down to unload his Bloomin' Onion, he apparently found himself Down Under instead.
Green says he suffered severe bodily harm from the shards of porcelain and is suing for damages in excess of $50,000.
A jury will decide if he'll get a fair-dinkum payout.

Juiced by his own caboose. Gross!
BATHROOM BREAKDOWN: A Florida man is suing Outback Steakhouse after claiming a handicapped toilet seat “suddenly shattered and collapsed” while he was using it, causing injuries.
He’s seeking $50,000 in damages, alleging those injuries led to “significant and permanent loss of Show more
I got to here and thought, “no, please do not show more.”
But thank you very much for posting!
This should be fun. But seriously, how does a busted toilet cause “significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function”? Sure, it’s embarrassing, and likely causes bruising to one’s nether regions, even cuts from the porcelain bits. But “permanent loss of an important bodily function”?
I assume the defense will claim that his gas pressure exceeded all reasonable design parameters.
I’ll bet $50 Mr. Green weighed over 500 lbs.
“even cuts from the porcelain bits”
Broken porcelain has razor sharp edges. I had to break up several for disposal. Good gloves needed.
Her I sit
All broken hearted,
But when the toilet broke
But I only farted...
Completely missing from the story is what the guy’s weight was.
On a related note, I used to review legal issues for a company (that will remain nameless and it was a long, long time ago). One issue that arose was that someone was using the toilet when a gas line under the toilet exploded and it caused waste to shoot up out of the toilet all over the person. He left the toilet to complain and the employees at the location laughed at him and told him he’d have to sit in a segregated area because he smelled so bad. They didn’t try to help him, they just laughed. This is a 100% true story.
I hate frivolous lawsuits. Outback did not make the toilet seat. Id assume there isnt much maintenance on the seat besides cleaning it. Hope the suit is tossed…. A really shitty money grab.
He now suffers from PTSD...
Post Toilet Shattering Depression
And Outback sues for him breaking their toilet.
In the process of changing a toilet I needed to break up
the old tank as it wouldn’t fit in the garbage can. I smacked it with a ball peen hammer. One chard sliced my wrist requiring 13 staples. Glad it was only my wrist. All in all it cost me about 4K.
I work auto injury claims and that’s just boilerplate BS that I see claimed on losses when we roll into someone in a drivethru (I wish I was kidding).
Outback to Outhouse.
There’s a bloomin’ onion for ‘ya, mate!
“how does a busted toilet cause “significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function”?”
Never underestimate how despicable personal injury lawyers can be. Just the TV commercials alone tell me what lowlifes they are.
I guarantee that “significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function” bull came straight from whoever is representing this guy.
Honestly, I’m shocked it’s only $50k.
