Lex's First Time Hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd 🎵 Free Bird Reaction
YouTube ^ | 2021 | Brad & Lex

Posted on 12/31/2025 5:10:43 AM PST by Bikkuri

A "Reaction Video" from a "reaction" couple, which are great (Bikkuri personal opinion, and one of my favorite couples)...

They have been one of my favorites to watch.. a different generation, whom no one would expect to even listen to our generation, nor type of music..

(I avoid 'U-Tube' as much as possible, but some things can't be avoided.)

I did, but that’s not why.

And let me be clear. Freebird is a superior song to Stairway. It’s classic, epic, etc.

And I will listen to bits of it.

But Stairway is not superior…

Where did that come from?

There was so much music between the 1890s and 1980s that was original, whether by string, brass, or woodwind (of course not counting classical from the 1400s and beyond)..

Stoner music (60s) had to start from somewhere, right? (I am not, and have never been a stoner, but I respect music.. and can play many instruments)..

Freebird is emotional, especially at the time..
Stairway is (almost) spiritual, especially at the time...

For instruments, they are not masterpieces, but are done well.
The composers did a very good job of being original, and keeping the interest of listeners. (I could have never done even close to their creations, unless you include trance, 40 years later in Japan...).

Actually.. (minus the drugs), TRANCE is the replacement to 60s music at Woodstock (drugs galore, but I don't do that crap)... but I made plenty of the music.

They are so upbeat, especially in this day and age (and I think they are millennials).. so good to seem them looking at our generations.
Like I said.. she is adorable :)

I had the pleasure of seeing Lynard Skynard in their first national tour, as the opening band for The Who on their Quadrophenia Tour at the Capital Center in Landover Md.

They blew us away, our reaction was who cares about The Who.

The mext morning I went to my local record store to buy their album. The owner of the record store was the son of athe former governor of Md., and he was very connected to the music scene.

He said who? I told him about them opening for The Who, and said get plenty of copies, because you are gong to get a flood of requests for their album.

Never heard the original tapes.

The masters are too old to be played. Even if they could be, it’d probably take Indiana Jones to find a machine that could play ‘em. 😁

BUT... the weirdest experience I had... was when I was stationed at Homestead AFB.. went to South Beach (Miami).. and David Roth did a pop up performance on the beach.

Saw the current version of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2006 at a biker rally in Rosalia Washington. They ended the show with Free Bird when the drummer tossed his sticks into the crowd and I snagged them!

I didn’t save the link, and don’t remember the title, but I once stumbled across a ‘reaction video’ to reaction videos.

The guy systematically went through short clips, explaining how many of the hosts are slightly over acting went ‘reacting’. After all, the main reason for enthusiastically liking various types of music is more views and subscriptions.

Money, money, money, muuunneee,... money (hat tip to the O’Jays)

I was at that concert. The Who was pretty good but Skynyrd ruled.

LOL- and how much money, money, money did the guy make from his video claiming others were making $$$$ over reacting in their videos????

It’s like michael moore making a profit off his movie capitalism all those years ago and charging people to see a movie where he would lecture how horrible capitalism is...

I totally agree. Freebird drones on and on and on!

“And this bird you cannot cha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ange. Lord know I cannot cha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ange.”

I hate this song.

Interesting to watch someone grooving on “head” music decades later without the dope. She was able to connect to and talk about the deeper meaning of the sounds very readily!
