Non-carbonated, aged for decades in old whiskey barrels. To be sipped.

Utopias is Samuel Adams' experimental beer program β€” designed to test the limits of beer aging and blending techniques.

In this day and age, how much more proof do you need?

Can you still call it beer if it has 30% ABV? That sounds like hard alcohol.

Eh, I can make my Yuengling Lager 30% with a little Everclear. But yuck.

30% would be great for alcoholics as it would be cheaper to stay drunk.

For those that drink beer for the enjoyment, probably not a good thing.

I quit drinking years ago, but I wonder what that 30% would do to flavor?

It probably wouldn’t taste very good. I don’t like barley wine, which has about half that strength.

WOW! I remember people who could get falling down drunk on two 3.2 Oklahoma beers!

>> 30% ABV......yeesh

I’m not a fan of the higher-alcohol-content beer trend.

Not because of “morals” — but because (to me) it tastes like crap.

1 ounce shot of 80 proof liquor=
40% X 1 =
.4 ounces of pure alcohol

12 ounce can of plain old Budweiser=
5% X 12 =
.6 ounces of pure alcohol

12 ounce can of Utopias 2025:
30% X 12 =
3.6 ounces of pure alcohol

(some one check my math!)

Rarely drink beer anymore. Just didn't like the taste one day and that was that.

Thank goodness for bourbon, whiskey, tequila, and wine.

And scotch...

...

And cognac...

I'm sure there are other tasty not-beers as well.

In the 70s or 80s in California I bought EKU 28 a few times, it was at 11%.

Samuel Adams Triple Bock is a legendary, high-alcohol (around 18% ABV), non-carbonated, dark, syrupy beer from the 1990s (vintages 1994, 1995, 1997)
