Kapwing reports up to 33% of YouTube feeds are low-quality AI content. Spain and South Korea top in subscribers and views, sparking global concern.
Once a fringe term, "AI slop" has become part of the global vocabulary. In 2025, both The Economist and Australia’s Macquarie Dictionary highlighted the phrase as shorthand for the surge of low-quality, auto-generated content flooding the internet — from shallow articles and spammy videos to algorithmic filler produced at scale. That growing frustration has data to back it up.
A new report by Kapwing suggests that between 21% and 33% of YouTube feeds, as of October 2025, may consist of AI slop or closely related "brainrot" videos, underlining how rapidly this form of content has spread across platforms worldwide.
While AI-generated video has found legitimate applications in filmmaking, advertising and education, with film schools and major brands experimenting with the technology, the report suggests that a parallel ecosystem has emerged. In this space, creators use prompt-based tools to mass-produce content at scale, flooding platforms with repetitive, low-quality visuals that prioritise engagement over originality.
Kapwing defines AI slop as careless, low-quality content generated through automated applications and distributed to attract views or influence opinion. Brainrot, a closely related category, refers to compulsive, nonsensical videos that corrode attention and comprehension through endless repetition and spectacle.
To measure how widespread this phenomenon has become, Kapwing examined the top 100 trending YouTube channels in every country, identifying which among them primarily produced AI-generated slop.
The researchers then analysed view counts, subscriber numbers and estimated revenue using data from Social Blade. To simulate the experience of a new user, they also created a fresh YouTube account and tracked the first 500 Shorts that appeared in the feed.
The findings reveal striking geographical patterns.
Spain emerged as the country with the largest combined subscriber base for trending AI...

Clicks and views and comments are what make money on YouTube.
The videos really suck. But is it any surprise a “cheap and easy” AI formula is all over the place, if it makes money?
i don’t understand why they can’t reuse the water.
Water cooled PC’s don’t need a constant supply of fresh water..
We’ve talked.
He’s about a Security Badge
And I’m a soft lovable Fur Ball!

Two years ago, AI content was downright frightening in how creepy and cringey it was. It’s hardly perfect now but … “Space Beauties” on youtube is funny.
I used to watch YouTube a lot.
Month ago the vids went stupid crappy
Then after simple words like lives and lives
Record and record
had pronouncements swapped and I realized it was all ai moron crap
Click bait title
Adverbs and adjectives by the boat load
3 or 4 bullet points repeated 3 or 4 times in a row min vid.
Pure crap
After the 2nd adverb ar adjective and I quit watching.
Barely anything worth watching anymore.
Yup and most are terrible, rediculus videos and often the same script
"The moment [X] realized..."
Found out very quickly, and, the hard way— how much b.s. is created with AI to hook clicks on youtub. Not clever enough to hook someone with real history knowledge, particularly military history (as in WWI and WWII/US Naval History), but clever enough to publish “new” research revealing recently unearthed letters. For example:
Truman takes over from FDR and has discovered in the WH FDR private letters not archived in the National Archives (locked in a box, and found, etc.) revealing.... FDR’s real thoughts about.... you name it (Churchill, Hitler, Jews, Nazis.... etc.).
Absolute repetitive needlessly wordy and time consuming (relating to the monetization created by the length of the video... drag it out forever and say the same stupid things over and over in different ways. And all complete fabrication.)
The answer to not getting hooked should one be foolish enough to click on this BS (named sites: WW2 truths, WW2 Vault, WW2 secrets, WW2 Shadow Tales, and by far the worst— The Black Record (what a joke of site, utter bullcrap)-— the answer if you click on such is, before listening or watching one second of the potential fabrication-— read the comments. AI shows up very quickly, and often stating when the crap starts.
Just a suggestion. Longing for the day when AI could ever mean.... ACTUAL intelligence. Not fabricated worse than fake news.
That should be illegal, no questions asked. How soon before we'll have an entire new batch of Epstein photos and videos showing all manner of public figures involved in his various happenings over the years. I'm sure the technology is there to make such appear very authentic.
AI told me it’s adding this post to the list of the six posts it HATES.
I noticed, and want to know if one or both of them know Wynona's Big Brown Beaver.
lolz.
Yeah the ones with “little momma cat” protects her kitten from a freaking tiger that shows up on the front porch in a clearly suburban setting-— not say in the jungles of India or even Vietnam.
Ridiculous. Especially the “wolf mother brings her frozen wolf pup to my door and I rescue it, mom takes it away and a year later she shows ups with the grown pup to drop off something dead to say “thank you”. What horse road apples!
The AI is applied to the video characterization. Ran into another one... generated AI “conversation” with “Warren Buffett” (who doesn’t sound like him, never moves in the video frame, and whose mouth poorly matches the words being spewed of his fake as hell advice. Did not stay around for the full play- it was that idiotic).
Point being is the clicks. Just like tik tok (which Trump is averse to removing from the chinks because... why? people are making money out of this? Doing exactly what constructive to MAGA (answer: not one damn thing in a point and click “you want fries with that” weenies in the basement nobodies who get money from clicks they sucker people).
That cat was working at the McDonald’s location that candidate Trump worked at to humiliate Kamala.
I dig old Primus but that’s not one of my favorite songs of theirs by far.
there is supposedly an ai that doesn’t use much resources- which might be the future
i dididnt watch the whole thing- but if interested

Cooling towers evaporate water to cool the hot side of the large centrifugal HVAC water chillers used on large cooling systems. You cool water to within a few degrees of the wet bulb temperature, warm it up 10 or 15 degrees F in the condenser tube bundle of that centrifugal chiller, run it through the cooling tower again, a continuous process.
Some of the water evaporates to give you a cooling effect on the rest, and some must be sent to drain to keep the mineral content reasonably low.
Is it a fair amount of water? Yes.
Is it the gobs of water people are freaking out over? Probably not, unless you’re in an area with a water shortage already.
The other day his feed served him up something about a mom who was facing the death penalty for shooting an armed intruder who had been trying to break into her child's room.
It did not sound right to either of us so we grabbed what few facts were included and did some light research.
True story was bad enough, guy with mental problems did break into her home, he was armed, she was also armed and in her child's room. She warned him to leave and he did. There was some other stuff about how the police arrested him then promptly let him go only to pick him up again on a unrelated violation. The usual "they need treatment, not punishment" bs.
So the first part real. The rest of it, her shooting him (something that I would have whole heartedly supported her doing) prosecutor seeking death penalty total nonsense.
And yeah I understand the "click bait" bit but this one just seemed weird. Almost like it was meant to push something or to see what kind of reaction this kind of story would get.
Anyway. Don't believe everything you see. Or read.
Scary good and bad. Yes, many are good, and that’s what’s scary. These AI videos can pretty much make realistically looking copies of anyone now.
