One of the potential problems is that there was just a weather event yesterday across NY with snow and sleet and power outages. So the utility companies are already busy.
With this widespread weather, they will be stretched thin.
Mr mm and I brought in a bunch of wood today for the wood stove. We already have gas for the generator.
We’re set for food.
We’re so far out in the middle of nowhere that we lose power on nice, calm days. A storm like this, if the ice is what they forecast, would do us in for a while. We have lots of trees on out property and there are several we’re concerned about coming down, but nothing that will hit the house.
The power lines are the bigger issue.
We’re in the general area of what Ryan Hall calls the bullseye.
Plenty of food.......it’s the lack of coffee....thinking about sterno...
Prayers up for all impacted by this… 🙏🏼
That level of ice accretion is nothing to sneeze at,,,
Y’all hunker down!!
PSALM 91 OVER ALL IN WEATHER EVENT AREA.
Wood stoves are great.
Even Oil and Gas heat use electrical power to control the furnace, so in an outage, I freeze. And so do the pipes, eventually.
I sure do miss Florida.
We hit 6F this morning. Got the well house heater going, but still no water. Once we get some daylight, I have another one for under the house.
Do what you can to stay SAFE, Mom! Not much you can do about the weather. ;)
We had heavy fog to drive through last night, and some this morning as we go to our last Christmas Family Get-Together. About 6pm tonight brings SNOW and close to 30MPH winds and 45 MPH gusts. Ugh!
SW corner of Wisconsin. A High of FORTY TWO today, drizzly, then 19 degrees and snow by Monday morning. It’s always an adventure (read: Cr@pshoot, LOL!) in the Wintertime by us.
I got a new bread machine for Christmas, so as long as the power holds, I’ll have fun playing with that white the storm rages around me. :)
Merry Christmas!
