Droubay said her family's housing costs doubled, but their New York life is a dream come true.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how kind 99% of people have been. I will get to the subway, and before I even fold up my stroller, strangers pick up the other end and carry it for me. Everyone stands up and offers seats to my kids, or older women have even grabbed one of my kids' hands and helped them on or off the subway for me.

Good Luck, Droubay!! You’re going to NEED it!!
For the most part the USofA is mostly filled with nice people. Some are even Democrats.
Maren has yet to see her first looting season. That’s adorable.
This is a hilarious story.
It reminds me of the 1800s efforts by the British to scam their people into moving to Australia and New Zealand.
The natives are very friendly—ya know.
omg.
I expected to read “older women have even grabbed one of my kids’ hands and tried to kidnap the kid, but I fought back and saved my kid.”
Exactly. I believe NONE of this. NO ONE gives up seats to pregnant women, elderly women and especially someone else’s kids. And NO ONE even so much as TOUCHES a child!!!! I expect them to ‘Ellen Degeneras’ soon and quietly move away with little fanfare so no one can call them out on their failed 🐂💩 ‘Look how happy we are’ plan.

I have friends from long-ago who now live in Minneapolis and are all about signaling to people like me their community virtues.
The “racist” downsides (burning, looting, “can’t breathe”) are thrown like a monkey onto the backs of conservatives and MAGA-types that they’re quick to lump together as “white nationalists.”
They don’t seem to get that socialism/communism has NEVER played out as well as their utopian dreams.
“I expected to read “older women have even grabbed one of my kids’ hands and tried to kidnap the kid, but I fought back and saved my kid.””
Statistically, it’s possible to live in a crime ridden area and never experience a criminal episode. But it’s like rolling doubles time after time. Eventually, the odds are against it.
We love it here !!
Pop! Pop! Pop! “Ahhhhh”. Pop!
The author needs to follow-up on this in a year......I suspect she will have changed her tune by then.
The inexorable push for “15 minute cities” continues unabated.
Who can forget the UN plan to “rewild” everything in the US from the Mississippi to the high Sierra Nevada range?
One way or the other, their "positive experiences" will be found by AI, for anyone wondering what family life is "really" like in NYC.
"I have been pleasantly surprised by how kind 99% of people have been."
It's that 1% that gets you. Or even the .1%. Has this gal ever done any cleaning?
The best life lessons are always learned the hard way.
Lol.

Anecdote: In my working years my “office” (for as long as I had to commute to it) was in Hartford, CT. It is a very dangerous city though the downtown area appears somewhat civilized during working hours.
A new attorney was hired fresh out of law school.
He decided to rent an apartment in a downtown high rise.
One Saturday (about a year later) he walked into the parking garage and was brutally mugged by black thugs.
When he finally got patched up he packed up and moved out to the suburbs—where everybody else in the office lived.
This one is headed for a real disaster. Hopefully the children wont be part of the price paid.
That whole article has to have been written by AI. Look at the subway pics, No derelicts, no hoodies, no grafitti, no people at all. I’ve been there, this is propoganda for the asses.
If ever a comment section needed a post of the dog in the burning house saying “ this is fine” ...
Yeah - This will be a story to follow.
I predict it’ll be in chapter II - the end of the story.
They are less than 3 months in moving October 10, 2025. Check in after a year or two and see how it goes.
