BREAKING: SpaceX has announced that @Starlink now has over 9 million customers, up from 8M in November and 7M in August 2025.
Starlink added a record 21,275 new customers on average per day since they hit 8M, smashing their previous record of 14,250. That growth rate is a whopping 49.3% higher than it was just last month! 🤯

My house is surrounded by tall trees, as well. See my post #19, where it turned out not to be a big problem. Of course, your experience may vary.
If you have to pay full price for the H/W, the cost is about $350. However, Starlink is always offering deep discounts and sometimes even H/W at no cost. Be aware, however, that the no cost option is a rental offer. If you return the H/W within the first year, you have to pay a pro-rated amount.
Just go to the Starlink website, check out the offer in your area, and they well soon start sending you offers by emai, if you wish.
Very good to know that Starlink is still possible even with my surrounding forest. Thank you.
Not quite your age, but at least I can match your stupidity in scaling my roof. Indeed, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Yes, it is confusing. I started with Starlink on Dec 04, so I have recent experience.
There are two standard price tiers, $90 and $120. There are also a number of specialty services, such as Commercial and mobile, for different prices.
The full price for H/W is $350, but you may receive discounted offers. The no initial charge offer a rental, which is basically a rent-to-own deal. It’s yours after a year, but if you return it in the first year you may have to pay full price.
I went with the H/W at no cost option, at the $120/month option. I had to agree to a rental contract, but the rental fee is simply the monthly service fee, $120/month.
After ordering the kit, I had second thought, so tried to cancel. They offered me free installation to prevent me cancelling, so I accepted that. There is a 30 day trial period, so I could still cancel, but I won’t.
The lowest download speed I have seen is 16 mbps, which is also the highest speed I saw with the fiber optic cable I used to have.
“with a really clever way to seal the hole.”
Please share!
My daughter has it. She loves it because she’s all over the place in NY and Ma...and other states where they camp.
Thank you!
I have seen adds recently that offered free installation in some areas.
But, unfortunately not my area.
LOL
You live on Mars?
They drill a hole with a hole saw all the way thru both sides of the wall, then have plugs with seals, and the power & ethernet cables thru a hole in the middle of the plugs. The cable ways are also sealed.
They also did a really good and neat job tacking the wiring down, from the antenna on the roof to the router inside. Side note: The antenna is called Starlink, and the router seems to be top of the line, latest and greatest.
I just looked on Amazon. They sell grommets for Starlink cables.
Whole kit if needed.
I get that. We always have to pay for Quality.
I am using comcast cable internet. 6 months ago my 8 year old TP-Link router would need daily reboots. Then I upgraded Comcast service to higher speed and now the router rarely freezes. So it was not my router 😂
Only problem I have experienced is the Internet service becomes unavailable once in a while. But not often.
We are considering Starlink when we move to our rural property. Right now we have Hughes net hooked up to the RV there but at $73 per month and soon to go up we may just go with Star link and be done with it.
When you cancel Hughes Net, be sure to keep all of your paperwork and correspondence with them. Be sure you send all of their hardware back to them in the package that they send you to cancel. I had a difficult time getting rid of them.
Good to know.
Well, this is news...
