Yes. At one time aluminum was a very valuable metal, more valuable than gold. The Bayer process changed all that.

Surprised all of it didn’t disappear quickly - like the haul from the Louvre. Perps were caught but the stolen items have not been recovered.

The gold has been melted and the stones have been dispersed across multiple fences to be re-cut into modern styles and settings. I doubt that they will ever be recovered..............

Silver is nearly $70/oz. Expect to see more silver thefts in the news as the price continues to rise.

I think it is worth a LOT more if it identifiable as being from the French Palace. You would not wat to melt it down unless you couldn't find a good fence.
