"Tires look great, this is a relatively new airplane," Brant says.

There's a lot that goes into his job before leaving the ground. Airplane inspection. Flight plans. Meetings with his crew.

"Going to San Diego and back tonight," he said. "It's going to be a little windy. But since I have a bit of downtime, I'm going to play a little before I fly."

He's pointing to a grand piano sitting in the middle of Concourse B at Denver International Airport. Brant will play a concert for anyone who wants to stop and listen.

Wow! You had a lot of b*lls to make a statement like that.
And you probably said it with such confidence, the guy didn’t even argue.

As you know much better than I do, part of performing involves acting out the passion in some manner, even if just in your imagination, for those three to five minutes, you undertake a suspension of disbelief, and live that role within yourself. Some of that act might seem like the real thing to a ‘helpless’, tho observant young lady.

Last year, we took a month-long rail tour of the UK. London, Wales, Scotland.

Several of the major rail stations had ‘public pianos.’ At London’s Victoria Station, we heard the most beautiful rendition of Michael Jackson’s “I’ll be There” that I can remember.

It was really a highlight of our trip.

“”I wish the report had allowed us to hear more of his uninterrupted playing.””

You’re right - listen was what we were urged to do but it wasn’t possible with all the yammering.

Here's his YouTube page. Most of the clips are pretty short.

You do have a valid point. It has long been observed that a male voice sung through an electric amplifier somehow goes right to the hypothalmus of some women. It is an common occurence that young attractive women at concerts often throw themselves at the performers. If they met these guys on the street under ordinary circumstances they wouldn’t give them a second look.

“”I agree, and as I said above, it was just a short news clip.””

True but if they were there because of the captain playing the piano before boarding his flight, wouldn’t you think the purpose of the reporters being there was to have people LISTEN to WHY they were covering it? They could have left the terminal and talked if that was the only reason they were there OR just stayed away. I’ve got to stop expecting logic...

It’s been a long time since ‘the news’ is what mattered. The pilot/musician isn’t what was important here, it was the news outlet and the reporters that mattered.

‘The medium is the message’ remains.

I played a Yamaha tuba, a Yamaha saxophone. Utter crap.

In fact, my Doctoral dissertation was going to be about the poor quality of Yamaha instruments. Had a Metallugist lined up and everything.
