Nick Reiner was diagnosed with schizophrenia, new meds made him ‘out of his head’ before parents’ murders: sources

Nick Reiner was schizophrenic, and his new medication was making him “out of his head” in the weeks before he allegedly killed his dad, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, and his mom, Michele, according to a report.

The iconic director’s troubled middle child, 32, was being treated by a psychiatrist for his condition — but in the month before the murders, his behavior became “alarming” as doctors switched his medication, sources told TMZ.

About three to four weeks before Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood mansion, his prescription was altered, making him “erratic and dangerous,” the sources said.

Doctors were trying to adjust his medication to balance him out — but the adjustment reportedly was not working and, combined with his substance abuse, actually made things worse.

Once his medication was changed, “Nick was out of his head,” a source told TMZ.

poor people of color same crime with public defender = THE CHAIR

he sure acted normal on the store videos just before the murders.. hadn’t heard the front desk people at the hotel noticed he was out of the ordinary.. but but don’t believe your own eyes he was insane I tell you it was the meds.

Nick will walk.

Judge, this poor man had a tragically bad reaction to prescribed medication, and now that he's an orphan, all we ask is that the court show him mercy...

I have relatives with bipolar disease. They go into a mental hospital if they are going to have changes to their medications.

But here is my counter to that concept.

Rob sets up a trust for his kid who is schizophrenic. He knows violence is an issue. He will be schizophrenic all his life.

The Trustee is instructed to take care of the needs of the mentally ill child.

The argument would be would the grantor really not want his child taken care of if the schizophrenic child went nuts and killed him because he wasn’t medicated properly.

I think everyone should have this testing. Doctors for the most part are not very creative thinkers. They seem to think every body is the same and all have the same result to outside stimuli. It’s very frustrating.

psych meds should be adjusted in a facility, not out in public. Doctors are supposed to operate in ways of first doing no harm to people. To adjust psych meds on people just roaming around is doctors purposely endangering the patient and the public.

Reiner should have stayed home and kept an eye on this creature!!!

Hard to believe they would take the kid to the party if he was out of it. I wonder if he took some drugs shortly before leaving and peaked at some point after arriving..

In cases with a Trustee who's given specific written instructions on what to do with an estate in regards to family left behind, the instructions in writing are what a judge will look at and enforce.

Estate Trusts are legally binding arrangements provided they meet the legal requirements of the jurisdiction where they're created, proper documentation, signatures and adherence to state specific laws.

Estate Trusts create a fiduciary relationship where the trustee manages assets for the beneficiaries, based on the language in the arrangement, and are enforceable by courts if/when disputes arise.

That is why I talk about this so much here so people are aware of the issue like the poster who said her child had a problem with Keppra. Could be a very real genetic problem there that could cause all kinds of issues with meds. This particular issue is similar to why you can’t give certain dogs Ivermectin.

A genetic test from 23andme is not good enough. Although, it does show some of my issues.

I used Nebula and then I use those results to get the official testing.

But there is a lot of gray area ...like the Gadavist substrate of P-GP that you just have to take into your own consideration because you are going to be told things like “There are no studies”.

i have an instruction that says NO Gadavist unless life or death situation. Its on my medical alert bracelet

Anybody who has family that is an addict or mentally unstable knows how difficult they can make life. That said I don't Reiner Sr. help the family environment with his obsessions and delusions with Trump.

From what I’ve read, an active trust isn’t safe from the slayer rule either.

Ya. I need to get those tests done myself. My doctor has mentioned these tests and thinks I should be tested so I am aware of them. Too bad more doctors don’t know.

And, it was pretty clear how much anger and hatred he had about Trump. If he gets that angry about Trump I’m not sure how that squares with him being “such a nice, caring” guy as we have heard. Not buying the nice guy story.

Yes, I think it could have been detrimental. A schizophrenic doesn’t need to be hearing his father say he is going to set himself on fire if Trump is elected.

A “normal” person might understand that is a hyperbole rant but Nick could have actually decided to set Rob on fire after Trump was elected.

“His siblings have said that they want Nick in a mental hospital not jail”

Bad move on their part.

When he gets released he gets to hunt them down like prey.

No good deed goes unpunished.

"He won't walk."

He'll get the John Hinckley, Jr. treatment.
