Nick Reiner was diagnosed with schizophrenia, new meds made him ‘out of his head’ before parents’ murders: sources

Nick Reiner was schizophrenic, and his new medication was making him “out of his head” in the weeks before he allegedly killed his dad, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, and his mom, Michele, according to a report.

The iconic director’s troubled middle child, 32, was being treated by a psychiatrist for his condition — but in the month before the murders, his behavior became “alarming” as doctors switched his medication, sources told TMZ.

About three to four weeks before Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood mansion, his prescription was altered, making him “erratic and dangerous,” the sources said.

Doctors were trying to adjust his medication to balance him out — but the adjustment reportedly was not working and, combined with his substance abuse, actually made things worse.

Once his medication was changed, “Nick was out of his head,” a source told TMZ.

Increasingly looks like ...

1. Nick will walk.

2. Doctors are going to get sued big time.

If he walks, it will be within mental ward grounds.

I had an intense dislike for Mr. Reiner, but nobody deserves what happened to him and his wife.

RIP.

“Yes, we’ve determined that you’re a schizophrenic. So we’re prescribing you some medication to help make your condition worse.”

He won't walk.

Doctors won't get sued.

Medication changes happen every day. And they all come with a mile long list of possible negative effects.

It’s always about the money...

Nick will get hand-slap and the drug company will get the shaft... Not a big fan of drug companies, but there are literally millions of schizophrenic’s out there and guess what most of them ‘don’t’ do?

They don’t kill people.

Blaming the drug is easy enough and it will obviously be profitable for the family... And beneficial for Nick... But the Reiner’s deaths were a result of their mistakes, as much as any drug Nick took.

Erratic and dangerous to himself or others he should have had a 72 hour hold in an inpatient facility until no longer dangerous. With his dad’s connections, would have been a bed made available.

Probably was the meth rage.

May not even remember any of what he did.

Toxicology will show he possibly wasn’t taking his prescribed medications.

Rob Reiner: Hey honey, here’s an idea - let’s take our drug-addicted and schizophrenic son, who is reacting badly to new meds, to Conan Obrien’s celebrity Christmas party. I’m sure everything will be fine!

Nicky probably should have been locked up in the psych ward awhile ago. 🙄

With a lot of psych drugs, the cure is as bad as the disease.

At what point does a doctor become culpable if he fails to order genetic testing once he sees the drugs are problematic?
Reiner could be a poor metabolizer or a rapid metabolizer.

It is a question that Alan Jackson needs to ask after he has done a thorough genetic test for ALL enzymes associated with the processing of ALL drugs Reiner was taking.

Yup and all the actors have been given their lines. The only “good” news with this monster is his activities stayed within has family, as far as we know.
