Disney World has been furiously slammed online after it announced a shocking 150 percent price increase for a popular service.
Almost everyone who goes to the beloved theme park ends up buying something, whether it's a stuffed animal for your child, one of the iconic popcorn buckets, some new ears or a cute sweatshirt.
Between the dazzling clothes and gleaming toys, it's easy to spend hundreds of dollars on merchandise alone.
And now, those purchases have just become much more expensive for some.
Instead of lugging all your new Disney stuff through the airport or trying to fit them in your already-full luggage, guests have the option of sending products bought in the parks home for a fee.
The cost depends on the value of the items, and for years, that fee was capped at $40.
However, the service just got much more expensive, and fans are not happy about it.
It was revealed this week that Disney has increased shipping rates, and the maximum has now jumped from $40 to a whopping $99.99 - a 150 percent increase.

They build the shipping into the price of the item. It’s not that complicated.
They probably accept EBT and SNAP.

They get shipping at a small fraction of the price that you and me pay due to the volume.
I have walked around in the bowels of UPS and seen cartons of drinking water being shipped and thought about how it would cost me $25 to ship that across town and someone is able to do that and still turn a profit.
Last time I went was in 1963. It was still bright and shiny in Anaheim.
It sure costs a lot to ship those Happiest Place things home! Not so happy when you see the shipping bill.
My liberal brother and sister in law just retired just north of DW. They lovethe place and took their sh..show voting habits with them from Maine. They’ll buy season tickets and go every friggin day.

Vegas used to be inexpensive. But friends went there a couple of weeks ago and said prices were outrageous.
Shockingly, given the obscene greed of the Iger-run parks, admission to Disney Sea or Tokyo Disneyland was a much more reasonable approximately $55 per day. Some of that was due to the favorable exchange rate, but it was mostly just due to a completely different pricing philosophy. Even food in the parks was surprisingly reasonable, not much different from street prices for food outside the parks.
I’m done with supporting the Iger-run DEI fest that is the U.S. parks, but if you can afford the travel expenses it is well worth going to those in Japan. On top of all the other good points, the Oriental Land Company has resisted, and continues to resist, demands from Disney to implement all of the PC changes that have been made in the U.S., from demolishing Splash Mountain, to bastardizing Pirates of the Caribbean to promote “strong women”, etc. All of those attractions exist at the Japanese parks exactly as they were originally envisioned, with not a PC change in sight. When you’re there you get the very strong impression that the Japanese truly revere Disney as it was intended by Walt to be, and that they therefore are determined to preserve it. Since they only license the name and characters from Iger’s “Disney”, they have a lot of autonomy to continue to do things the right way.
God bless the Japanese on many fronts, not just this one. Japan seems to be the only place left to go where it is clean, safe, orderly, and where traditional values are still revered.

Vegas has been ruined. I used to go once in a while during the heyday of the themed resorts, such as Luxor, New York New York, the Mirage, etc. It was a lot of fun back then, in large part because all of the different themes were interesting and let you relax and feel like you were a thousand miles away from daily reality.
Now, though, they’re intentionally removing every piece of the old theming that they possibly can, without just imploding those resorts completely (which I’m sure is coming before long). New replacements like the Cosmopolitan, Aria, etc., are spectacularly beautiful and luxurious inside, but they all look the same and after a while they just get boring because there’s no sense of escape. You just feel like you’re in any other casino around the country, just with more glitz. And as everyone knows, along with that generic glitz has come truly insane prices for everything.
There’s just no reason to go anymore.
The woke basstids could never pay ME enough to take my kids/grandkids to that place....
I’ve always loved Disney World, but doubt I’ll ever go again.
Wow, I feel fortunate that I don’t have such difficult imaginary problems.
I remember when it cost $15 to get into Disney World in Orlando. That’s about how much I’d be willing to pay now.
I just shipped a 24 lb box of Christmas presents to Tennessee by US Postal 5 day ground for $137. I did the wrapping and packing myself. The Disney $99 price seems reasonable to me. No one has to use that service.
I know Disney’s stock price is not even in positive territory for the year when the whole market is up like almost 19%...so I’m sure investors are not happy with how things are going.
12 years ago, we shipped packages, not quite that heavy, to the Philippines for about that cost, and we blanched.
