Senator Eric Schmitt delivered an absolute demolition of a clueless reporter on Tuesday after she tried—and failed spectacularly—to equate narco-terrorist drug-running vessels as harmless “fishing boats.”
What followed was a brutal reality check that the fake news media desperately needed.
While Democrats obsess over protecting cartel operatives and criticizing U.S. interventions, Schmitt made clear the only victims in this story are American families burying loved ones poisoned by fentanyl.
The exchange was filmed by Caden Olson, a congressional reporter for the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Reporter: If you can seize a tanker without killing anyone, shouldn’t that… If you can seize an oil tanker without killing anyone, shouldn’t that have been the way that these fishing boats were also stopped?
Eric Schmitt: Fishing boats? What is a fishing boat? The drug runners?
Reporter: The drug runners.
Eric Schmitt: Those aren’t fishing boats.
Reporter: Yeah, but…
Eric Schmitt: Those aren’t fishing boats.
Reporter: If you can seize a vessel without violence—
Eric Schmitt: Okay. Well, let’s talk about Article II authority. The President, the Commander in Chief, has identified and designated terrorist organizations—cartels who run drugs that kill 100,000 Americans a year.
There’s no legal question that he has the authority to blow those boats out of the water, and they will continue.
This, however—these were economic sanctions by the President, as delegated by Congress.
Those were enforced by civil authorities with the aid of the U.S. Navy. We’re talking about two very different things.
But if you’re asking me if I have sympathy for narco-terrorists killing Americans, whose boats are carrying the drugs that kill Americans, I don’t. I have sympathy for my neighbors in Missouri who’ve been poisoned, who die.
We finally have a President who cares about them more than Democrats care about going down to El Salvador to drink margaritas with terrorists. That’s how I feel about it.

When ya get right down to it, there are no laws on the open seas. No nation claims them or can enforce their nation’s laws on them. It is merely Might is Right.
Once those drug boats leave their territorial waters they are subject to Might is Right.
The whole “interdiction” thing is retarded.
The ocean is a BIG place - it take lot’s of technology to find these tiny specs on the ocean that are moving at 30+ knots. Getting another boat out there to stop and capture them is logistically near impossible.
But getting a military jet with Hellfire’s loaded is very doable.
Oh and regarding that tanker we seized - well that is a big slow boat, easy to track, then go out and grab it.
The headline is over the top. Really sick of over-dramatic terms like “bombshell” and “mic drop.”
That said, the video is most definitely worth watching (2 min 9 sec, I think) because of what Eric Schmitt explains so clearly.
