Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration diverted more than $35 million in taxpayer funds — an amount far greater than previously known — as part of a brazen agenda last year to defeat two ballot amendments he staunchly opposed, a Miami Herald/Tampa Bay Times investigation has found. Much of the state money was intended to assist needy Floridians, including children. Instead, it paid for political consultants, lawyers and thousands of advertisements that helped DeSantis and his supporters win at the ballot box. The ads purchased with the diverted money blanketed TV, social media and radio stations in the weeks before the election. They defended Florida’s six-week abortion ban and made exaggerated claims about the dangers of marijuana without mentioning that both were the subject of ballot amendments last fall. Along the way, the governor’s administration bent state spending laws and obscured millions in government spending, records and interviews show.
The findings shed new light on the DeSantis administration’s marshaling of state resources to finance his fight against political causes supported by a majority of Florida voters. Amendment 3 would have legalized recreational marijuana. Amendment 4 would have overturned the six-week abortion ban pushed by DeSantis. Both fell just short of the 60% needed to pass. The most visible cog in his campaign — the use of the state’s Hope Florida charity — is the subject of a grand jury investigation. In that case, nearly $10 million from a Medicaid settlement was steered to a political committee controlled by the governor’s chief of staff. The new findings show that the spending was more than three times greater.

I’m sure there’s another side to this story
a Miami Herald/Tampa Bay Times investigation has found
How many ‘investigations’ has MH/TBT done on Briben’s and Dems actual, massive fraud??
Isn't that the very definition of 'Democracy'?
Which is what the Democrats are fighting to preserve?
Apologies.
Reading Error.
We’ll see. We already know that Governor DeSantis looted a $10 million payment TO THE STATE as part of a Medicaid settlement and routed it to his wife’s “Project Hope,” which in turn funneled it to political action committee aligned with his referendum positions.
So is this out of keeping with his pattern of behavior? No.
That is SO weak a defense.
Come to think of it, it’s a non-defense defense.
LOL with the “sudden” investigative “journalism”.
Same crowd that missed Joe Biden cr@pping his pants while sniffing little girls.
You’re not going to Biden-away this act of corruption.
I think you took a wrong turn when you signed in to BlueSky, Miami Democrat.
I absolutely despise DeSantis but I assume you're correct.
Sure, AOC.
Post some more Bea Ess.
We’re watching.
Same old playbook. “Women and children hardest hit”.
As a Florida taxpayer, my concern is that the governor looted the public treasury.
As would be mine. Seems like it still went to Floridians
Undoubtedly, it’s not bad (or even newsworthy) when Democrats do exactly the same thing.

Folks might want to read up before getting their knickers in a knot.
I’ve got no brief for this charity, BTW.
This is easy.
To destroy the Republican’s voters support, the democrats have done two things:
1. Attacked evangelicals who support Israel
2. Running fake Christian’s who can say how immoral Trump’s agenda is.
Many actual Christian’s took the bait on the first
The Miami Hurled is garbage. Use it for emergency toilet paper, kindling, or bird cage liner.
I don’t understand whatever point it is you’re making.
How would Democrats attacking pro-Israel evangelicals have any effect, much less one that “destroys the Republican’s voters support”?
