Angry protests have erupted in Oklahoma this week over the light sentence handed down to an 18-year-old for a string of rape and strangulation charges that left one girl near death.
Jesse Mack Butler, a former high-school baseball player, was initially facing ten years behind bars for his crimes but must instead participate in a rehabilitation program and community service.
On Monday protestors gathered around a courthouse where Butler was facing a routine probation hearing to call for a tougher sentence.
Butler, who comes from an influential sports family in Stillwater, originally pleaded not guilty to ten felony charges, including rape by instrumentation, attempted rape, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, sexual battery and forcible oral sodomy, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail.
He then entered a no contest plea earlier this month.
He was sentenced to seven ten-year terms, two of three years and two of one year, to be served concurrently, a total of ten years behind bars.
But Butler's attorney then applied for him to be treated as a youthful offender since he was 17 at the time of the crimes, meaning he would not spend even a day in prison. At this point, he changed his plea to 'no contest.'
His offenses were committed against two girls he dated, both 16 at the time.
Butler's father, Mack Butler, used to be the director of operations for Oklahoma State University's football team between 2001 and 2004, and later from 2009 to 2021.

With American’s love of football, it really could be either side.
However, female does suggest a Democrat.
A youth like that usually do not go on to good things. He may meet somebody who does not care about football that much or who his daddy is.
Toxic femininity, demonstrated with inappropriate compassion for the rapist and not the victims.
In Oklahoma there’s a decent chance he’ll get justice in some other way.
The 19th Amendment was a mistake.
I thought only blacks got off easy for crimes like that.
Lighten up about the 19th Amendment, the dems would have passed it anyway they need the votes. It just backfired when women voted for Trump.
And it’s time to fix that mistake by repealing it.
Most likely.
wow. you almost think she must have been paid off to make that kind of change. maybe the prosecution can appeal.
I notice in states like Oklahoma and Texas if you are a star player on a high school or college sports team you can literally get away with any and every crime, these communities are so damn obsessed with their bread and circuses that these guys can rape and decapitate a girl in broad daylight and the community cheers them on
The judge should be raped and then see how she would react if her rapist got no time. I wouldn’t let this judge to judge a pie eating contest at a local fair...
Yes
It’s common to hear assertions that’s the kind of thing that needs to happen and society will change. I’m not persuaded by that argument, because as we’ve seen a lot of these folks are whack jobs. They have all sorts of issues, with a death wish in there somewhere It’s a huge mistake to think normal inputs will achieve normal outputs.
The best thing is to keep them far, far away from sharp objects, machinery & government.
How much did daddy pay the judge under the table?
Time for all skanky female “judges” to go. They don’t have a clue what they are doing.
I think the prosecutor can appeal the sentencing as improper by the judge. any lawyers care to comment because I am not a lawyer but I watch and listen to YouTube law videos so at best I have a misunderstanding of the law
He was likely engaging in sex with the mother and sister, and figured he could get away with anything. That perp is not long for this earth. /spit
Butler should join the ranks of the castratti.
