MY “NO-PUS” - 25 years on Free Republic

FReepers of a certain vintage will recall that strange species of missive, the “Opus.” Periodically members would leave, but would pen an “Opus,” the lengthy explanation. I never quite understood these; they seemed a bit self-important to me.
Today is my 25th anniversary on FR. I’m not going to anywhere, so this is my “No-Pus.” Many thanks to my FRiends for this great community. Apologies if I’ve ever been unduly unkind.
As of today I have 12,777 replies, 1.4 per day on average for 25 years. When I post a stat like this, some of my FRiends will point out that they have 200,000 or 300,000 posts and replies. All I can do is promise to try harder in my next 25 years.

I liked Rush but I just couldn’t take all the commercials, didn’t really listen that much. Especially when I had Free Republic.
I used to late night email stuff into the Talkmaster, Neil Boortz. He’d get up and do his early AM show prep, while I was asleep, and somehow magically obscure stuff I’d found here and sent in would end up in his daily show notes and on his AM talk show.

People are strange sometimes. Once in a while on forum discussion websites somebody will get in a snit over some perceived slight and demand that their account be “cancelled” and all of their posts deleted. Forums usually don’t really work that way. For some reason proffered advice like “just don’t login anymore” isn’t good enough.
“This isn’t an Airport. You don’t need to announce your Departure” is a pretty good retort I’ve seen.
